The boy seemed to think about her words, and then responded, mentioning how dual=types could still be risky when facing something they’re weak against. She nodded along, trying to keep up. She thought she understood type advantages for the most part, at least, but figuring out the specifics and how secondary types affected the strengths and weaknesses of individual Pokemon still gave her a little bit of a headache. She knew that certain secondary types could negate any super-effectiveness from certain attacks, but specifics were tricky to master and memorize. But then he talked about her Ralts, and how her types would do against dark types and Beat. She nodded to that as well. Not that he’d have to worry about a Mega Gardevoir from her for a while… Tourmaline had two evolutions to go for that to be possible, and she hadn’t even gotten her first emblem yet.
Then he apologized, and she shook her head. “I don’t mind. It’s a lot to think about…” It was something she’d spent far more time than she’d like to admit thinking about, since she’d been trying to build a well-balanced team to use in the gym challenge here. It’d be easier to raise one full party of Pokemon than a team of three to six with exclusive type advantages, and she wanted a single team she could use for the gym challenge back home when she was done here.
He stated that he couldn’t really help her before closing the lid over the piano keys. It seemed the concert was over, but that was all right. She was more concerned over her dorm mate than the music, at this point. She frowned when he said he didn’t like coordinators. What was wrong with them? She didn’t really understand the class or profession that well, but people were people, right? Then he clarified, saying it was his mom he didn’t like. That…wasn’t any better. Family was important, at least to her, and the thought of not liking a member of her family made her hurt worse than she had since first leaving home. She didn’t fault her dorm mate – for him to not like his mother meant she must have done something awful – but she felt bad at the thought that he couldn’t have that essential relationship.
Then he said that he shouldn’t talk about it, and she shook her head again. “If it’ll help, I want to hear it.” She wasn’t sure what she could offer for comfort besides her presence, but maybe she could think of something. If nothing else, sometimes having a shoulder to lean on or an ear to catch the words helped, right? “I took Coordination because I’m supposed to try everything I can while I’m here. If it goes bad, there’s still training and breeding, and training’s my first choice, anyway.”
Fluorite watched all her companions, her gaze still occasionally flicking around the room to plan an escape if needed. It didn’t seem like one was needed, though. No one was really angry, at least in a way that was directed at her. They were just sad, which was something she could understand. That didn’t mean that was good or preferable, though, and she found herself inching closer to the Riolu and giving his box an experimental tap with a wing. He’d wanted to play earlier. Maybe that was the best thing to do?
((No worries. ^.^ Also, woo!))
