Distinguishing Features: Seth is a lanky young man who graces just around 6'1 and, unlike some with such height, he holds himself upright at all times instead of stooping down low to match other people’s level. This posture adds to his haughty demeanor as Seth often looks down at the people he talks to. Seth’s brown hair hovers above his eyes, parting a few centimeters to the left where he has a natural cowlick that refuses to be tamed. His eyesight is poor, requiring him to wear glasses to view things far away. He can, however, read without them. If Seth spends a long time without his glasses he then gets a faint migraine that puts the man into a foul mood. During these times Seth will lash out against those around him, resorting to sarcastic remarks when his intelligence fails him. His eyes are green and they constantly seem to be looking for a deeper meaning of the things around him or, at the very least, he tries to. He’s a bit pretentious like that. Seth has a large scar on his stomach from when he was attacked by a pokemon years ago. Most higher ranking teachers in the Academy know how badly Seth’s tactics failed that day and the loss he accrued because of it. Ashamed by his weakness, Seth hardly ever lets anyone see his chest and often wears shirts even on the hottest days or when he's swimming at the beach.

Personality: Intelligent- Due to his years spent reading and learning, Seth is a very intelligent man and he often holds that over people. He will not shrink down to console someone who doesn’t understand him. Sometimes this comes across as arrogance and despite Seth’s intelligence and knowledge about other places, he still has only been to Celadon and Harmonia, making him a little rusty on other cultures and customs when they’re used.
Honest- Like many other blunt people, Seth tells it as it is. Either you will thank him for this or you will hate him for it. This was one of his traits that never served him well in the retail industry where, in his eyes, the customer is not always right. And while his father often tried to tell Seth that even though the customer may be wrong, you still need to treat them like a customer, a king, and that's something the young man never understood. If someone is being belligerent to him, why couldn’t he be the same to them? In a school setting this serves as a double bladed sword to his wards as Seth wont lie to them about the intensity of a battle or his evaluations about them.
Kindhearted- It would be incorrect to assume that Seth is the cold and calculated jerk on the outside and the sensitive sweetheart on the inside. Seth is, all and all, a caring man who doesn’t appreciate random or unnecessary violence. Rumors of what Team Origin does chills the man's blood. He fears the rhetoric they might use to convince younger students to join their side. Because of this Seth will do everything he can to care for the wards under his protection and guidance. He has a soft spot for Wave dorm students over other dorms.
Thinks before he acts- Seth is not a rash person. When he fights in battles it is tactical and precise. There is no such thing as a quick battle to Seth unless his opponent is woefully unprepared. Seth's plodding along thought process often drives his wards antsy, waiting for him to return back paperwork or requests they entered weeks ago.
Has low pain tolerance- Seth himself has a low tolerance for pain and will not try to physically assert himself somewhere he could be injured easily. Seth is a man of knowledge, not brute force. He is also physically weak and relies on others to do the heavy lifting- be it another human or a pokemon. Secretly he thinks himself a coward for this.
Impatient- For someone who deals with kids most of his day, you would think Seth would be a patient man but this, sadly, is untrue. He expects everyone else to operate on his level, at his processing speed. When they do (and they always will) eventually get hung up somewhere along the line, Seth becomes frustrated. While he is great at learning knowledge and delivering it, and improve tactics on the battlefield, don't expect him to offer many tutoring sessions after hours. He just doesn't have that sort of time.
Sensitive- Haughty he may be at times, Seth has thin skin both physically and metaphorically. The smallest remark about him can drive the man to make sneer filled retorts back at whoever delivered it. Some wards see this as wit and are amused by it, others have gone to their parents and then Seth's boss in rage about his remarks. If it wasn't for Seth's credentials, chances are he would have been fired a lot in his life.
Ego- Seth has a bit of an ego when it comes to his intelligence (this is an understatement) and does often view himself above his students and other members of the faculty. For him, he is above the rules, above the top percentage, above a lot of things, even if that isn't the case. Seth may be good, but he's not that good, he just doesn't see it. A proud man, but a man who loves nevertheless.
Likes: Teaching, being protected, tea, students who are as passionate as him, the sound of waves crashing on the shore.
Dislikes: Pain, rude or overly energetic students, certain foods (is a picky eater), people noticing his fears.
History: Born in Celadon City, Seth grew up around a place that thrived off of supply and demand. It was a place where trends were in one day and out the next. People flocked from all over Kanto to see Celadon’s super-stores. And if tourists (locals too) didn’t want to waste their money that way, there was always the Game Corner to toss away hard earned cash for prizes that, in Seth’s opinion, were trivial. Regardless of his opinion, however, Seth was still born and raised in Celadon, living in Condominiums with his parents. Seth’s father worked in the department store as a manager while his mother doled out the prizes in the casino. Each had their own philosophy that the economic market was king and the customer his queen. Despite all of his protest, Seth was often recruited to help his parents during their working hours. On his off time Seth would read. He would learn everything he could from the apathetic visitors who were only in Celadon for a spouse or family member. He would question where they were from, what they did, and how they did those things. All Seth wanted to do was learn about pokemon. Working retail wasn’t Seth’s passion, he realized, and quite frequently he would let his parents know this.
Such a drive, however, often became fuel for other children to tease the boy and Seth withdrew into himself. Keeping true to his nature, Seth looked for adults for friendship. This too also shaped the young boy as he become emotionally more mature than those of the same age around him.
Such did life go on this way and Seth grew from a young boy to a teenager. He was studious and preferred to spend his time alone reading than any other activity. His parents still tried to instill the Celadon culture into Seth’s life, but this worldview never worked for Seth. Finally, after years of persuading, Seth was allowed to travel to Harmonia Island in order to learn at the academy. Seth excelled in most of his studies, though suffered in some marks due to his slow approach in work. He was thorough with his works but critiqued often for not being able to think on his feet.
One year, during a particularly grueling round of battles, Seth made the biggest mistake any trainer could make. He allowed his fear of pain to override the duty he had towards his pokemon partner. The battle was against a Garchomp, intimating in size and awfully powerful. Seth's pokemon, his first he had since arriving at the Academy, was Coeus, a smaller Venomoth. Despite the other trainer's commands, the Garchomp beserked and rushed Seth. A slash to Seth’s stomach, bloody and dangerously deep, forced the Celadon trainer to watch in horror as Coeus jumped into the fray, trying to defend his master and friend, blocking the blows and paralyzing the Garchomp before the Venomoth was overwhelmed. The instructors quickly stepped in with their own pokemon.
Seth fainted shortly after the attack and when he awoke in the hospital the next day he was informed of Coeus' fate. The death of his favorite partner coupled with the physical wound he received vaulted Seth into more learning. He made a mistake in his tactics, he froze, and his pokemon suffered for it.
After graduating, Seth applied to be a Warden for his own dorm, vowing to make sure none of his wards would make the same mistake as him. Of course, whether rumors of his terrible battle still circulate among the dorm is debatable. It was many years ago, but Seth still carries the loss clear on his face. It is a heavy load.
