Personality: The summation of all of Hayate's personal traits is "gutsy fool." The typical extrovert who has no problem calling things as he sees them and taking risks.
His biggest flaw is his immense passion and his naivety. He is extremely quick to trust, quicker to defend, and the first to throw himself in harms way when things get sticky. His passion often drives him to pick fights when he feels something is unfair or unjust, even in the case where an opponent is far stronger than him. His passion also lends itself as one of his biggest strengths. Aided by his ability to quickly learn, and his tendency to get into fights means a lot of opportunities in which he can grow, win or lose, every battle improves him.
As for his interactions with others, he tends to be a little cocky, however in the presence of the opposite sex his cockiness sky rockets, especially if it's someone he likes.

History: The son of a Train Engineer and a successful business woman, Hayate spent the first 14 years of his life in Goldenrod city in the Johto region. Given his parents success, he had a very comfortable life and things provided for him. On the other hand, his parents worked very hard and he rarely ever saw them. This meant he was rather lonely as a child. To fill the void and gap he was very active at his Junior High School, being a decent swimmer and a top member of the boxing club where he earned his nickname "scrappy" for fighting guys bigger then him and managing to win. Another way he managed his loneliness was spending a lot of time with the family's pet pokemon, a poliwag named Mr. Wiggles the Third. Ultimately this bond with Mr. Wiggles the Third was what led to his desire to become a Pokemon trainer.
Having won over his skeptical parents, they decided they would let him follow his dream of being a Pokemon trainer with the exception that if he could not win tournaments, badges, and become a successful trainer in the next 3 years, he would have to give up on his dream and enroll in a University and work on a "real career". Hayate decided the fastest way to improve his chances of succeeding was to transfer for his final two years of high school to Gray Haven- the Pokemon academy. For this reason, Hayate is passionate and dedicated to realizing his dream and proving his worth to his parents.
