If there was anything that Shane Alexander Norwood had disgustingly despised more than anything else, it was pollution. Whether it be the skies being clouded with smoke, or the ocean being tainted with oil, a dirty world of pokemon is an unhealthy - and also unsafe - world of pokemon. Or at least that's what he thought of the situation. And so, the Bolt student wasted no time in answering the Mavro City Council's call for volunteers to help tidy up the Harmonia Colosseum. Come to think of it, he had actually never seen that particular arena's interior before.

Right now though, it must be one heck of a wreckage of empty soda cans and half-eaten food. The boy could imagine exactly how it looked when it would be cleaned. More so, he couldn't help but envision in his mind as to how the colosseum would look with a sold-out crowd in attendance. And even more so, he couldn't even begin to dream up the idea of him out there on the battlefield inside the colosseum with that sellout crowd cheering him on. But alas, right now, it was only just that - a dream.

He couldn't possibly say no to what can probably be considered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - a chance to work behind the scenes of the only known battle arena in the city. Picking up trash may not, on the other hand, may not be thought of as the ideal occupation to most people. But to Shane, this wasn't just a job; it was a priority. A priority to assure the cleanliness - and in turn, the safety - of the Harmonia Colosseum. Not a problem for him. From the looks of it, he must have been the first to arrive and was dressed for the occasion, sporting a gray sweatsuit and all-black high-top sneakers, as well as rubber gloves to round up loose ends with.

Strapped around his slim waist were three pokeballs containing the partners he had chosen to provide support on this operation, should the unthinkable happen of course. And let's not forget about his patented pokedex sitting in his pocket, to gather intel on any unfamiliar pokemon he may encounter. To say that the Kanto native was appalled at the decor of filth, and also a rather putrid stench, would be quite the understatement.

Supposedly, two others were to join him in taking out the trash. Luckily for them, Shane didn't really mind waiting too long.

Now that he thought about it, Tristan didn't really know why he agreed to help clean the Harmonia Colosseum. It sounded like a lot of work, and it was obvious that there were others who would be more than willing to clean up. That brought to mind the issue of there being other people. He didn't really care about meeting new people- in fact, he knew it would necessary- but did he really want to deal with people who were all gung-ho about cleaning up a giant arena? Still, he had said that he would, and he was getting paid to do it. He couldn't back out now.

That was what was running through Tristan's head as he neared the meeting place. He was wearing some raggedy jeans and an old tee shirt, as well as an old pair of sneakers and some gloves. He had his utility belt to hold his pokemon and pokedex too, of course. He didn't imagine anyone else would be wearing anything different, but he was surprised to find someone in a sweatsuit at the meeting spot. To each his own, Tristan thought as he approached. He was sporting a small, practiced smile and gave a similarly small wave.

"Hey," he said timidly, "you here to clean up the arena?" Suddenly, his face fell. Of course he's here for that you dolt, he mentally chided himself. Why else would he be here in that get-up? He realized that the other boy might actually be paying attention and tried to regain composure.

"My name's Tristan," he said as the small smile reappeared. "Sorry if I seem a bit strange; a lot on my mind, you know?"

Lilith still couldn't not believe that she had managed to talk herself into taking on another mission after her last mission left her a little emotionally drained. However, there was another part of her that wanted to know if this new mission would be anything like the previous mission. She hoped not, she wouldn't be able to take another mission like that one. Still, the curiosity was starting to drive her a little crazy. Apparently this mission would be focused on cleaning up trash at the Colosseum. It was a mission that sounded easily enough. 

The raven-haired female hummed a cheerful tone as she continued to travel towards the direction of the Colosseum. She was currently wearing a simple tank top, a pair of blue jean shorts, a pair tennis shoes and a pair of gloves. It was definitely a new look for her outside of her school girl uniform. Her long black hair flowed down her back like a dark river and her deep blue eyes stood out against her pale skin as they shimmered like sapphire. She held three Poke Balls around her waist and a PokeDex on her backside. She was quite prepared for any unexpected encounters. 

A couple of more minutes passed and Lilith soon found herself approaching a small group of students. One of the students she had grown to know quite well. A soft and warm smiled curved against her as she moved even closer towards them. "Hello guys. I hope you're all ready to get a little down and dirty." She giggled as the smile touching her lips started to spread a little more.

Man, this place is j-u-n-k-y! You've got a lot of work spread out before you, but if you handle it together then the Colosseum is going to look brand new in no time! As you spend the first hour collecting all the trash and sorting them into bags, you notice that some of your trash bags are missing. That's strange! It's not like they can walk off on their own and they're brimming with rubbish so what person would take them? That's when you see these troublemakers hauling off with your bags! Better grab them before the plastic splits and you've got more work to do!

Here to clean up the arena? Well, yeah! Sure! Why else would he be here right now? Come to think of it, Shane could easily think of an entirely different form of reasoning for being here: for pokemon battling, of course! But from the looks of it, no one would be doing any sort of battling any time soon. Especially not in this disgustingly horrendous field. The Bolt student couldn't wait to get started. The first partner to have arrived didn't seem to very excited about taking part in this mission...why bother accepting it? Whatever. So long as the job was done, Shane would be satisfied. "Sup, I'm Shane, good to meet ya." he responded.

Soon enough, their third mission partner would come into play. What do you know! "Lilith! Nice to see you! I'm ready to get down alright, but I'm so not ready to get dirty. But hey, this is what we've signed up for after all." Well yeah! Otherwise, any one of these kids could have offered their assistance in something entirely different. It was too late to turn back now.

"Now what say we go ahead and get...started...? Hey! There should be some trash bags somewhere around here..." As the Bolt student began to fish around for trash bags, he would soon realize that he, umm, didn't seem to have any to begin with. Man, he could have sworn that he did. Surely they couldn't have just grown legs and walked away now, could they? From a short distance away, he did manage to spot some bags seemingly moving on their own. What appeared to be bags floating away was actually a small group of pokemon trying to run off with them!

"Hey! You guys come back with our trash bags! We're trying to clean here and you're not helping!" Instinctively, the professional-trainer-in-the-making quickly drew out one of his pokeballs and launched it straight up into the air, revealing the first of three pokemon chosen for this mission. Mickey the Pichu had emerged, primed and ready for action. "Use Thunder Shock on those naughty critters!" The shiny electric mouse wasted no time in complying with his trainer's command, managing to catch the rat-faced pokemon with that move and shocking it into submission.

Lilith laughed at Shane's comment about being ready to get down, but not ready to get a little dirty. "Aw Shane, a little dirt never hurts anyone." She giggled a little more before running her dainty fingers through her long and shimmering onyx hair. "Yes, we're going to have to do whatever it takes to clean up this place." She added, scrunching up her nose at the foul scent surrounding the area. "It definitely needs it." She laughed a bit more as she returned her attention back over to her Shane.

"Yeah, we probably should get started. The sooner we can get things cleaned up here the better." She nodded her head in agreement. She glanced over towards the direction of where she thought she had remember seeing the trash bags sitting a couple of minutes ago. "Huh, where did they get off to that fast?" She asked as a confused expression spread over her fair face. She could have sworn that the trash bags were there a couple of minutes ago, weren't they? She was starting to second doubt herself now. 

Lilith jumped a bit after hearing Shane shout at the moving trash bags. "Whoa! What in the world is going on here?" She asked out loud before following Shane's lead and withdrawing a Poke Ball from her waist and tossing it into the air to release her Pancham. "Mallory, I'm going to need your help, too!" She called out and within seconds a Misdreavus appeared from out of thin air. Apparently, the Ghost Pokemon was hiding around in the shadows of the coliseum. "Stop those trash bags from moving!" She commanded as she pointed her fingers towards the moving trash bags. Donovan and Mallory quickly rushed overs the moving bags, snatching the trash bags only to find Wild Pokemon hiding behind them. "All right, let's take care of them right now. Mallory use Psychic on that Trubbish! Donovan use Karate Chop on that Stunky!" She commanded with a soft smile. Mallory released a powerful blast of psychic energy towards the Trubbish, causing massive damage to her body. Unfortunately, the Trubbish still had a little bit of fight left in her and she attacked back with Take Down. Luckily for Mallory, the normal attack phased through her body without dealing any damage to her ghostly body. Meanwhile, Donovan extended his power arm to deliver a chop to the Stunky, dealing major damage to her body and soon causing her to faint.

The Stunky was out of the way. Now, Mallory just have to focus on taking care of the Trubbish. "Mallory give it one more Psychic!" The Misdreavus nodded her head before spending another powerful blast of psychic energy towards the Trubbish, this time causing her to faint on the spot. "Nice job guys." Lilith complimented her Pokemon's battle efforts while giving them a pleased smile.

As you clear off the trash bag stealing pokemon, you notice a smell. The Council had warned you there was something funky going on around the Colosseum but you didn't realize it would smell this foul. Follow your nose and investigate that smell! Who knows, maybe the Council will be happy you're taking this extra measure.

While he may have connected on only one of the three intended targets, that one was enough to at least cripple those little troublemakers. At this rate, the team may end needing to round some up more trash bags in light of what would likely be an even bigger mess than what they had been tasked with originally. For now, the kids would have to push themselves - and their respective pokemon - forward.

The Bolt student had to admit though, that he was indeed fairly impressed with this girl's display of efficiency and technique with her partners. She must have been learning some things in Battle Tactics class. Even so, he couldn't help but smile at the sight of her ghostly deity and panda cub take it to those naughty trash-nappers.

"Good stuff everybody." the boy genuinely praised. Mickey the shiny Pichu took up his usual position, perched atop Shane's right shoulder. Suddenly, something else managed to take up a position in his nostrils. An extremely putrid stench! Shielding his nose from within the collar of his sweatshirt, Shane grimaced profusely. "For the love of Arceus! That smell is horrifying!"

This less-than-stellar aroma was enough to make anyone puke up their lunch. or even their breakfast for that matter! The boy called for his Pichu to return to his pokeball, so that he wouldn't have to suffer the same cruel fate as either of the poor unfortunate humans. And so Mickey obliged.

"I guess the logical thing would be to try and find out where the stench is coming from, huh?" Along the way, two more vile pokemon were in his sight. A floating ball of gas and a puddle of sludge that moves. A free hand reached for another pokeball, while at the same time trying to keep his nose covered and away from that horrid aroma. From within the ball, out came Furia the Chimchar, whom immediately upon touching down on the ground became emphatically disgusted by the stench.

"Let's worry about the smell later, Furia. Right now though, I need you to try and focus on eliminating that slime ball over there!" he commanded the fire monkey.

The lively grime initiated contact by emitting a wave of sludge, which the Chimchar had no trouble avoiding. "Acrobatics, go!" The monkey soared, striking the gooey pokemon directly with some added force due to the fact that Furia wasn't holding anything at the moment. It retaliated with a Power-Up Punch, knocking a slime-faced Furia back a bit. "Use Flame Wheel!" She charged straight at the mini gunk mountain with a whirlpool of flames coursing around her.

The sludge puddle countered with an Ice Punch! That didn't seem to have much of an effect on her though. She stepped back, awaiting Shane's next order. "Flamethrower!" And out came a concentrated force of flames through her lungs then her mouth. The Grimer conceded, leaving a door open for an opportunity for Lilith and her pokemon to take out the floating gas pump.

Lilith quickly used her dainty hand to protect her keen nose from the foul odor. If it was one thing that she hated it was bad odors. It literally took everything in her body and mind to stop herself from puking from horrid stench. Lilith nodded her head in agreement to Shane's comment about find out the source causing the ill stench. She kept her nose covered as she trailed behind her friend, her Pokemon keeping close to her side. 

It wasn't long before the two trainers found themselves encountering to more Wild Pokemon. Two Pokemon who where also known to give off a distasteful stench. It was quite obvious that the students had discovered the source of the stench now. Unless, there were still other Pokemon hiding out and giving off the stench, too. Shane didn't waste anytime attacking one of the Wild Pokemon and Lilith soon took his actions as a sign before calling her Misdreavus back onto the battlefield. The ghostly Pokemon floated from her trainer's side and positioned herself in front of the Koffing. 

"Mallory, let's make this one a quick one. Psychic!" She commanded out loud, her voice sounding a little weird due to the fact that she was still covering her nose with her free hand. The MIsdreavus nodded her head before releasing another powerful blast of psychic waves towards the Koffing. The attack was super effective and dealt more than enough damage to knock the Koffing out right then and there. "That's what I like to see." Lilith smiled while giving her Pokemon a small nod. 

She later turned her attention back towards Shane, only to notice that his Pokemon had successfully defeated her opponent, too. "It looks like we make a pretty good team, huh?" She smiled at her friend as she moved closer towards him. "That's a total of five Pokemon taken care of so far. If I have to guess I would assume that there are a couple of more Pokemon wondering about due to the stench still being rather loud." She pointed out with a soft sigh. She had finally decided to uncover her nose. "C'mon, let's keep looking around a bit longer." She suggested before leading the way this time. 

Mallory used Psychic.
Koffing was KO'd.

It seems our little Mana student has the right idea! You vaguely remember the mission saying something about the storage rooms... Maybe you should check those out when you're done. There appears to be a lot of goo and smell coming from one storage room in particular. But the door is locked! What will you do?

She was right about one thing...

"We sure do." A good team indeed.

As the team were seemingly drawing closer to the source, the foul odor had only gotten...well...more foul! It was certainly too much for the young fire monkey to cope with. If it weren't obvious enough, Shane was not very fond of the stench himself. Ultimately, the Bolt trainer opted to reach for Furia's pokeball and hold it out to her, calling for her to get back inside. "Alright, you can go back inside. At least you won't have to deal with this nasty odor any longer than we have to. You were great back there! I'll be sure to give you lots of berries when this is all said and done!" Content with her trainer's promise, Furia happily hopped back into her spherical home.

The boy couldn't help but notice a trail of gunk leading up to a door nearby, the ooze seeping through gap at the bottom of it. Clearly disgusted by it - as well as the not-so-endearing aroma emanating from that particular spot - Shane cautiously stepped towards it, trying to not step foot into the gooey substance leaking from whatever was on the other side of the door. "Hey uhh, I think we may be onto something here..." he called out to his partner. He reached for the doorknob and tried to turn it. Locked. Of course it would be. Who could possibly want a group of strangers marching about their colosseum backstage? No one obviously.

Surely there had to be a key. It had to be somewhere, or someone must have it. If that was the case, then it would be easy to say that time may not be on their side and perhaps that time couldn't afford to be wasted in searching for it. The boy turned his sights to Lilith, seeking some form of consensus. "Hey Lilith, for some reason I can't even begin comprehend right now, I get the feeling that whatever it is we've been smelling may be coming from whatever's behind this door here. And from the looks of this, it seems pretty slimy too...there's gotta be a way in here..."

After a brief moment of self-deliberation, an imaginary light bulb lit up atop his head. "Hey! I know!" An idea had to come mind. He released another pokeball from his arsenal, and out came Gladius the Pawniard, whom with his sharp frame could possibly help bust that door open in practically no time at all. "I'm thinking between these two little buddies here..." And by that of course, he was referring the bladed pokemon and her panda cub. "...they'd be able to break the door down and maybe we'll find out who or what is behind all this nastiness."

Lilith covered her nose again as she started trailing behind Shane. The duo appeared to have been following some mysterious gooey substances leaking through the bottom of door not too far away from them. "This gooey stuff. It seems a little familiar to me. I just don't remember were I've encountered it before." She spoke in a quiet voice as she continued to follow behind her teammate. "The answer to who's been polluting this area is definitely hiding behind this door." She stated as she observed the lock door. There had to be another way for them to get inside. 

Lilith placed her index finger against her chin as she started to brainstorm possible ideas that would successful get them inside of the locked building. "You're right. We're going to need to find a place inside as soon as possible before it's too late." She spoke, nodding her head at her friend. Think Lilith, think! 

Lilith was starting to wreck her brain a bit. Luckily, Shane had seemed to have come up with some sort of plan for the team to use. A twinkled reflected in Lilith's deep blue eyes as her eyes widen a bit. "That is a brilliant idea Shane." She smiled at Shane before turning her attention towards Donovan. A proud smirk curved against the Pancham's mouth as he started to flex his muscles. There was no doubt that Donovan was more than ready to use his powerful fists to beat down the door. "A little bit of heat treating should do the trick. We will go first and you guys will have the final blow." She smiled at Shane. "Donovan use Fire Punch then Ice Punch. Repeat those orders a few times to weaken the door." She commanded her Pokemon. The Pancham nodded before coating his right fist with flames and his left fist with ice. Within seconds, the Pancham started pounding at the heavy metal door. Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, and Ice Punch. The heating and chilling sensation quickly started softening the metal quite a bit. "I believe that's enough Donovan. Good job!" She nodded at her Pokemon. "It's up to you two now." She smiled at Shane and his Pokemon.

Needless to say, he was happy to hear that Lilith was on board with the idea of breaking down that locked door. The panda cub seemed to be excited about the plan that was, like most other things he does, thought up on a whim. The girl didn't waste any time carrying through with the plan as she commanded her panda to continuously punch the door down. With the effects of various punching moves, the door had begun to melt down. It was interesting combination of fire and ice. The boy would have probably never thought of utilizing that particular method himself. Perhaps he still had much more to learn about using particular move sets to his advantage. And he would need to master them if he wanted to start challenging the gyms soon.

Before long, it was now Shane and Gladius's time to make their contribution to busting that door open. "Nice! Alright Gladius, it's our turn now. Let's knock that door down for good with Fury Cutter!" The little Pawniard almost immediately answered the call as he began to furiously hack away at the door, and he would not stop until it was now completed disintegrated. And just what exactly does Shane find behind the formerly sealed door? A pair of wild pokemon of course. One was the form of a giant ball of sludge, and the other, a rather slimy pile of soft tissue. The stench and the slime were strong inside the room where they stood. Could they be the source of this nastiness?

"Uh, I think we may have found what's been causing the trail of goo...and that smell...these are pokemon...?" The tissue-like pokemon, in which Shane's pokedex would later identify as a Sliggoo, quickly moved rushed towards the bladed pokemon in attempt to Body Slam it. "Whoa look out!" Gladius was able to avoid that. Barely. "Get 'em with a Slash attack!" Shane commanded, and with one fell swoop - or what he thought would be one...

It didn't seem to have much of a effect. The Sliggoo had coated itself in thick goo, perhaps as a means of shielding itself. It then countered with a water-based, which connected on the Pawniard right between the eyes. "Okay...try Metal Claw, Gladius!" Well, he tried, but he couldn't connect. In fact, he didn't seem to know where he was. He might have had his vision impaired by the Muddy Water. And to make matters worse, the slimy tissue-like pokemon discharged a wave of electricity. "Hang in there...Fury Cutter!" Sad to say though, that he could not connect on the first cut.

Sliggoo then unleashed a breath of draconic energy at the bladed pokemon. He took like a champ though. "Think Shane...think...what else can we do..." he thought aloud. "Wait, I got it! Gladius, Feint Attack!" Gladius proceeded to attack, albeit waywardly, and somehow found his mark. He continued to hack and slash blindly, causing a cry in angst on the part of the slimy pokemon. "Alright, time to clean up this mess!" On that note, he threw a fastball at the Sliggoo. A fastball in the form of an empty pokeball.

Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle. Click!

"Got it!"

Lilith and Donovan stepped away from the door, making room for Shane and his Pokemon to carry out their part of the plan. A soft smile touched Lilith's mouth as she watched Shane and his Pokemon go to work on the door. It wasn't long before Gladius had managed to knock down the door. "Awesome!" She smiled at Shane and Gladius, giving them both a thumbs up. Donovan was even impressed by Gladius' skills. Therefore, he gave the Pawniard a nod of approval. "Donovan, you've done enough. It's time for you to rest up a bit." Lilith smiled at her Pokemon before returning him back into his Poke Ball. After putting away her Pancham, Lilith carefully followed Shane into the mysterious room. Her piercing blue eyes soon noticing a Sliggoo and Swalot waiting for them. She quite familiar with both of the Pokemon. She has a Sliggoo and Gulpin of her own. However, she did notice that the Swalot was a little more unique than the usual Swalot that she had seen a while back. "That Swalot is definitely a shiny Pokemon." She pointed out staring at the Swalot for a couple of seconds before turning her attention over towards Shane.

"Yeah, these two are definitely the sources behind the foul odor." She stated, nodding her head. Her brilliant blue eyes soon widening as she noticed one of the Wild Pokemon rushing towards Gladius with an attack. "Doesn't look like we're too welcomed here." She mumbled a bit. It wasn't long before the Swalot took charge towards her. "Mallory!" She called out and within seconds her Misdreavus appeared in front of her. "Mallory use Calm Mind!" Mallory nodded her head before closing her eyes as she started focusing her mind and calming her spirit in order to increase her Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage. Meanwhile, the Swalot's Body Slam attack on phased through her ghostly body. 

Lilith smiled as she watched the battle going on between her Misdreavus and the Swalot. "Now, let's attack with Psychic!" She commanded with a smile. Mallory's eyes started to glow a deep blue hue as she released a powerful blast of psychic energy towards the Swalot, knocking her back quite a bit. The Swalot slowly recovered her balanced shot forth a blast of sludge. "Stand your ground!" Lilith ordered, knowing that the Sludge wouldn't cause too much damage to Mallory's body. "Let's finish this off with another Psychic!" Mallory let out an eerie cry as she released another powerful blast of psychic energy, finishing the Swalot off. 

"We won't allow you to continue damaging this area with your foul scent." She spoke out, pulling a Poke Ball from her bag and tossing it towards the Swalot. The Poke Ball shook three times before coming to a halt. "Got this one, too." Lilith smile as she walked over and picked up the Poke Ball. "It looks like our job is done here." She smiled turning her attention back onto Shane.
