It was kind of creepy here. That was good, though. She liked creepy…usually. Somewhat uncanny, given the dorm in which she resided, but that was okay, too. They wouldn’t let students in here unless it was at least somewhat safe, right? Besides, any new friends she made here should have a really easy time settling in once she added them to her team.

Toni wandered through the halls and rooms of the manner, keepers her eyes and ears on the alert for any trace of something nearby. She wasn’t sure what she hoped to find here, which probably made this trip an easy success. As long as it was a species she didn’t have, it would further her goals, at least to an extent. She would never catch up with her roommate, but she was making good progress in her own way. She just had to hope her luck would continue to hold out.

She didn’t see anything at first. Not until something bumped against her leg and knocked her off-balance. The young girl fell back against a wall, dropping her bag in the process, and a pokeball rolled out and opened. Tourmaline stood between Toni and whatever had knocked her over – a tottering Spinda – letting out an odd hissing sound that Toni didn’t remember her making before.

“No, no, no, it’s okay!” She pulled Tourmaline back into a hug. “I don’t think it meant to do that.” She smiled at the Spinda. “Hello there. I didn’t know I could find Pokemon like you in here.”

The Spinda was looking in her direction. She wondered if it was staring at her – with eyes like those, it was hard to tell. After a moment, it staggered toward her, and she held out a hand for it to sniff…or steady itself with, as the case ended up being.

“Are you on your own?” Toni looked around, but couldn’t see anything else nearby. “You’re welcome to stay with me and my team. We live in a place almost exactly like this, so it should be comfortable for you.”

“Spinnnnnnnn…” The Spinda looked between her and Tourmaline and back. “Da? Da.”

“Is…that a yes?” Toni turned to Tourmaline, who simply stared back at her. Shrugging to herself, she pulled out an empty pokeball and tossed it at the Spinda. The Spinda disappeared into the ball, and it shook a few times before falling still.

“That’s that, then.” She collected the pokeball and smiled at Tourmaline. “Thanks for protecting me. Let’s go back home for now.” She headed toward the manor’s exit, the Ralts following close behind.
