Charles had been roaming around the island for the better part of the day. He had lost track of time and now the sun had set. "I guess I'd better head back to the dorm. What do you think, Cyr?"

The small Pokémon looked up at Charles, grinned, and nodded. "Aaa~"

Charles couldn't help but grin back. "Maybe a battle before we go? I haven't been able to battle another trainer since I've gotten here." He scans the Ruins for someone to challenge. It took a little bit with so little light, but the first person he saw was a girl that seemed to be about his age. She was wearing a violet-colored Academy Uniform, which proved that she was a student. That meant that she was probably about his skill level. He hoped.

He approached her, grinned and introduced himself. "Hello, there. My name is Charles. Feeling up to a friendly Pokémon battle?"

Ribbon was more than happy that evening. Not only did she explore the area around her dorms, she also found that one pokemon she had wanted for a long time and even managed to capture it. The Lunatone she captured now hung above her head, humming a happy tune as it circled her and Zorua again. She wanted to let the other pokemon out and have them meet their new friend but decided against it as the sky started getting darker and darker. She had never had anyone reprimand her for breaking academy rules before and she was not about to start now.

But as she turned back, her eyes landed on a tall figure approaching her with a friendly smile. Ribbon kept her expression as plain as always when the man introduced himself and even stared blankly at him without giving him an immediate reply. His red uniform already told her that he was from the lava dorm. She wanted to question what he was doing around the zodiac ruins at such a late hour but bit it back and decided to slowly introduce herself first.

“Ribbon Taylour,” she spoke, and then looked up at the sky. Little specks of stars were already starting to appear now but the small digital watch on her wrist told her that she had a little more time to spend before the curfew. “Alright, I’ll battle you. I’ll use my Zora first,” she told him, gesturing to the little Zorua on her head.

The girl introduced herself as Ribbon Taylour. Who names their kid Ribbon? Sounded like a rich family name...

Charles did a little internal celebration. Not only had his first challenge been accepted, but he got to see new Pokémon in action. "Alright!" As the small, black ball of fur on Ribbon's head pokes its head up and jumps down, he takes a few steps back to give the Pokémon some room. He wasn't exactly sure how much they'd need, but twenty feet looked about right. "Alright, Sox! Let's get this started!"

He tosses out his first Pokéball. Although the Karate Pokémon was only about four and a half feet tall, his strength should definitely give Ribbon a challenge. "Sawk!" The Fighting-type takes his stance and gets ready for the fight.

Meanwhile, Cyr was lying on the ground by Charles' feet, watching the stars. Charles was glad that it was Cyr out at the moment and not Nibble. Nibble would be wandering all over the place, probably trying to get into the battle herself.

A Sawk, she noticed the strong energetic looking pokemon that Charles sent out. It stood over her little Zora, casting a dark shadow on it. Ribbon had to bite her lip at the match up. Zora was at a disadvantage over the fighting pokemon that stood in front of him.

“Zora…” she began, trying to decide between switching him out for Night and letting him stay and battle the Sawk. Its fighting type moves would most definitely put Zora in a bad corner and Ribbon didn’t want to continue with him knowing that Zora wouldn’t last too long with Sawk. She sighed, gesturing her little Zorua back. He looked disappointed at her, she could tell from the long face he pulled on her but still came back, taking a place behind her right leg.

“Zora, I’ll use you later,” she tried to pacify the slightly irritated Zorua and took out another pokeball from her bag. The familiar pokeball seemed to bring Zorua out of his silent protestation. After all, the next pokemon Ribbon wanted to use was his best friend and confidant.

“Night, I’m counting on you on this,” she told the small Espurr that came out of the pokeball. -squeak- it cried in agreement, taking in the Sawk that appeared in front of it with a calm demeanor.

Ribbon switched out her Zorua for another ball of fur. This one, though, was a dark pink, almost a lavender color. Charles wasn't sure why she had switched out like that, but he could only assume that Sox was at an advantage against the Zorua. Making note of that, he lets Sox loose on the new opponent. "Go ahead and let loose, Sox. Show them what you've got!"

"Sawk!" Through the corner of his eye, Sawk gives Night the Evil Eye.

Charles looks at Ribbon. "By the way, how many Pokémon do you want to use? I have a full team to work with."

Charles' Sawak had used Leer. It brooded down on Night who took one step back and felt the effect of it drain his defense.

"Snap out of it, Night," Ribbon called out, snapping him out of the initial shock.

"Go, use psyshock!" and Night quickly came out with a powerful bast of psychic energy. The pink glowing beam darted forward towards the Sawak in front of Night.

Espurr uses Psyshock. It's super effective...

"Psychic? That means... Sox is weak against it, right? Oh, crap! Sawk, dodge it!" Unfortunately for Charles and Sox, the realization came too late. The pink-colored light hit Sox squarely in the side. Realizing that Sox was at a disadvantage, Charles tosses out another Pokéball. "Come on, Cole! Wake up and do your thing!" He points the first Pokéball at Sox. "You'll come back later, Sox. For now, sit tight." A red beam of light ensnares the Fighting-type Pokémon, returning him to the "safety" of his ball.

Cole's head snakes its way out of his dark shell, yawning the whole time. Realizing that there was a fight at hand, he snorted white smoke that plumed out of his nose and the center impression on his shell. "Koal!" The small Torkoal was ready to go.
