Toni scaled the mountain, keeping to the path for the most part as she tried to get somewhere near the top. This was another place she hadn’t been to before, which meant there were bound to be new species she hadn’t obtained yet. She was making good progress on her breeding emblems, but she wanted to keep up the pace, and maybe see if she could catch up with her roommate. She probably couldn’t, but it was fun to try.

Her feet were starting to hurt, so she veered off the path to sit on a nearby rock. While she rested, she let Quartz out of her pokeball. The Seel was her current focus, since everyone else had had at least a bit of training at this point. Besides, it wouldn’t hurt to have a second pair of eyes watching for wild Pokemon, and she could use the company while she waited.

As she waited, a Spearow landed nearby and started to peck the ground. She watched it, smiling. A flying type was better than an electric type, at the moment. Fluorite would probably be happy to have another flier to play with, too!

Quartz pushed herself toward the Spearow and barked happily, seemingly on the same wavelength as her trainer. Or maybe she’d simply noticed that Toni came home with a new friend almost every time she went out. The Spearow squawked at the Seel, feathers ruffled and wings flapping in agitation, but it seemed to settle when it realized it wasn’t being threatened. The two Pokemon turned their attention to the ground, foraging side-by-side like friends.

Toni tossed a few treats near the Pokemon as they hunted for food and watched them eat for a while. This was a peaceful day, and it’d be nice to stay here until sunset. Unfortunately, she did have other things she needed to be doing, so – after a while – she stood and called Quartz back into her pokeball.

“It’s time for us to go home,” she informed the Spearow. “You can come along too, if you want. I’d be glad to have you, and I know of a couple Pokemon that would certainly feel the same.”

The Spwarow squawked at her and hopped closer. Taking that as a yes, she tossed an empty pokeball at it. The ball wobbled a bit and then fell still, completing the capture. Smiling, Toni collected the ball and headed on to her next task.
