What was he doing here again? Luke wished he knew. Nowadays, he tended to just pick a direction and go with it. Maybe he should put more thought into his training…these uncomfortable areas were more pain than they were worth. Sure, there was a decent chance of finding a good Pokemon, but right now all he cared about was training the team he already had.

At least it wouldn’t take him very long, and he did have ways to cool down if he needed them.

Luke wandered the dunes, his gaze searching the landscape. There was bound to be a Pokemon out here he could train against. All he had to do was find it.

A mound of sand rose up to meet him. By the time the Hippopotas became visible, his hand was wrapped around a pokeball and sending the contents out to face the wild Pokemon. Luke hadn’t been paying attention, though, so Current the Tynamo appeared to battle the ground-type Pokemon.

…Or not.

The Tynamo seemed to know he was at a disadvantage. He was content to circle around the Hippopotas, watching it curiously. The Hippopotas watched it right back…for maybe a minute or two. After that, it yawned and sank back into the sand, the hole it had created filling up until there was no sign that anything odd had happened.

Okay then.

Luke returned Current to his Pokeball and headed home. He’d had enough of this place for now.
