Celine made her way back through the forest after a brief rest. Since none of her Pokemon were injured in the last outing, there was no need for anything longer than it took to settle their new friend in and catch their breaths. Besides, she liked getting her tasks done early. It made her feel all the more accomplished when she could manage it, especially since she’d nearly waited until the last minute last week.

A breeze ruffled the leaves overhead, but that wasn’t the only movement she saw. An odd shape ducked behind a thick branch. She went to investigate, wondering if it was a Pokemon species she needed.

When she found the shape, she discovered a Hoppip lodged in a fork where the branch split. It struggled, but didn’t seem able to free itself. Unfortunately, the tree wasn’t one she could climb easily, and the Hoppip was just out of reach…

Then she had an idea. She let Luigi out of his pokeball and picked him up, holding him toward the Hoppip. “See if you can free it with your vines.”

Luigi extended his vines, wrapping them carefully around the Hoppip. With some effort, he slid it down the fork just enough to give it room to free itself. Their task done, she returned him to his pokeball, and waited to see what the Hoppip would do. It was one of her most wanted ‘mons, but it had already been through trauma and she’d rather not make it endure a battle on top of everything.

The Hoppip circled her as it glided away from the branch, and came to rest on her arm. She kept it held out awkwardly, not wanting to discourage the attention. “You’re welcome. I’m going home now, but you’re free to come with me if you want.”

The Hoppip let out an excited cry and moved up to her shoulder to cling to her bag. She headed back to the dorm, reaching to check on her passenger every now and again.
