Things had been changing at a steady pace, as of late. Sophia had focused on breeding and managed to obtain her four Breeding Emblem. Honestly, at that point, she didn't feel too far off from the final emblem. She had Seraphina and Sylvia to thank for that, of course, but, assistance from outside parties or not, the fact still stood that she had made that progress. She completed her first mission, doing so alongside Seraphina and a young boy by the name of Tyson. There, she realized Silk was strong enough to handle multiple consecutive battles, if the terms of battle were marginally in their favor.
Though her trainer-battling experience was still lacking, she had fought a number of wilds, and that gave her an idea for the basic structure of combat. Add in her basic research, the information that she acquired from Seraphina, and the faith she had in her Pokemon, and the young lady didn't feel terribly over her head when the idea of challenging a Warden settled in her. It would definitely be a learning experience, win or lose. Naturally, she had no intentions of losing, but she was at least willing to acknowledge the chance. She was confident, but not deluded, after all.
Honestly? Sophia wasn't anxious. What would be would be. If she won, excellent. If she lost, then she didn't prepare her partners enough. No, she wasn't anxious. However, to say that she was calm was a lie. After all, she was, without a doubt, filled to the brim and pulsing with excitement. She had yet to actually battle another trainer. While it might have been more appropriate to do so with her roommate for a first time, or just a friend in general, there was something special, she thought, about her first battle being an opponent of note. It made her chest go aflutter.
While it was true that a battle was a battle, and that there was no real need to look pretty or proper for an engagement like that, Sophia did come dressed properly. Mary Janes covered her feet, and solid white, knee-high socks reached into the void of her skirt. The skirt, gypsy in design, reached halfway between her knees and ankles. The color was a light crimson, but the multiple layers gave it a darker, more maroon tone. A dress shirt hugged her torso, buttoned up nicely and tucked into the rim of her skirt. Over it was a sleeveless scarlet vest, left half-unzipped for a tasteful exposure of the upper region of the dress shirt. Finishing the top was a lightweight jacket, primarily a light gray in color, with black lines criss-crossing over the sleeves. Half-buttoned to keep the ends flapping, the jacket's right breast had two tiny patches sewn in, the two decidedly “cutesy” heads of a Mareep and Eevee. It was the sort of thing that one would expect to see on the clothing of a younger child, but it seemed oddly appropriate.
Sophia stood in the lobby of the Wave dorm. Seth Silvester wasn't a complete stranger. She had obtained a Feebas from the Warden, and that fish had proven quite valuable in terms of breeding. Knowing of him, specifically, did influence her decision to challenge him, certainly. The intel from Seraphina was the nail in the coffin, though. With a brush of her right hand against her side, she lightly smiled. The strip connected to her skirt hosted six balls, each holding a partner she selected for this trip. In her left hand was a disposable styrofoam lunchbox holding freshly prepared sweets- cookies, cakeballs, and various other tiny things. Nothing amazing. It was a customary, formal gift- something like a sign of thanks for meeting with her and battling.
Well, assuming he was around. Given she wasn't male, she certainly wasn't going to gallivant into the boys' side of the dorm. The person at the front desk had sent for him, at least. And, barring unfortunate timing, she didn't think anything would get in the way of her match. Ah, she had to fight back that excitement. Her lips had curled into a goofy, childish grin. That would be embarrassing- to be caught smiling like an idiot.
And by an opponent, no less.

Notes: Somewhat wordy. Still, it's her first battle and her first gym. It's excusable.
