OK, so maybe it's not going to erupt, it's dormant. But, burning was an apt descriptor of the place, even if there was no literal fire in sight. Despite this, Lecia trudges up the volcano, a determined look upon her face. ...Yet...

"It's...hotter than I expected! And that was pretty hot!"

Maybe there's some complaining to herself, however insincere. Not wanting to make any of her Pokemon bear this heat longer than they have to, she trudges up with her Pokemon still in her Poke Balls. Even if it were hot, she was here for a purpose, one worth this heat! She wanted a friend! A tough friend!

"It's a volcano, so yeah, it's hot, I understood that. That's why I know I'll find someone up here that can handle the heat...a bit better than I can!"

Should a 13 year old really be going up a volcano, dormant or not? Probably not, but her parents OK'd sending her to an academy with one nearby, free to explore, and they never said 'don't go to the volcano'. They had the foresight to see this coming, so it's basically permission for her to fry herself. ...If she could bear to carry eggs up here, maybe they'd hatch faster... ...Nah. Lecia continues distracting herself from the heat with more silly thoughts while watching for a glint...which would reveal a steel type that can take the heat, most likely. She knows that some would make their home here, she did the research! Of course, that glint could very well be a mirage...maybe she should have brought another bottle of water, this one's going down pretty fast...

Surely, any steel type would do. Perhaps a Skarmory, she heard that some of those are found around Mt. Chimney, back on the Hoenn mainland. Or maybe Aron, which are so durable they compete with Zubat for most frequently seen Pokemon in caves everywhere. A Durant might be trouble, she hears some are lazy...surely, she'd have to make sure the one she finds isn't. And failing that, a Nosepass would be fine too. She hears those evolve into Probopass, which is close enough for her tastes!

...But no matter where she looks, there's just more and more normal rocks. Normal, hot rocks. Still, after all this time, not finding anything makes her get a weird feeling...as though she's being watched. Or, maybe that's just the heat. Maybe she needed a Pokemon out for this anyway, just for an extra set of eyes...one more able to take this heat more than she could. So, not Granzon, poor thing might fry. She grabs hold of one of her Pokeballs...

"Come on out, Mazinger!"

And tosses it, revealing Mazinger! It quickly surveys the situation, even taking a moment to look up, something Lecia had entirely forgotten to do after this long in the raging heat. And, well, that was the ticket. Mazinger gives Lecia a nudge, she looks up, and there's clearly something flying in the sky, tailing them! ...Waiting for them to get weaker? ...Yet, the glint was unmistakable, as well as the ease of which it tailed them. That was a Skarmory! It looked fierce enough (well, with the aid of the heat affecting both vision and mind) that it gave them pause, and in that pause, the bird swooped down with frightening speed at Mazinger, and proceeded to jab at it furiously!

...They all phase effortlessly through it. For all its ferocity, it doesn't seem to understand that Mazinger, a Golett, is a Ghost type. An honest mistake, but a costly one! Lecia barely has time to react, but she manages just that!

"Dynamic Punch!"

Without missing a beat, the not-so giant not-so robot punched it, right in the beak, send it flying a fair distance...and as the punch always does, it confuses anything it hits. Surely, after both phasing through the Golett and recieving a massive punch in the face, perhaps it might reconsider this whole thing...

...And it seems to be doing that, if it aimlessly flying around at high speeds where the Golett can't reach is any indication. Lecia takes advantage of this moment of respite to scan it with the Pokedex!

Skarmory, Steel/Flying: Its sturdy wings look heavy, but its bones are hollow and light, allowing it to fly freely in the sky at speeds of up to 180 miles per hour. Exceptionally high defense. Capable of many technical and defensive techniques, as well as some offensive moves. A Pokemon with great potential!

Nothing quite like added features, though she's pretty sure it can't go THAT fast, right? Still, the way this thing is flying around hardly describes it as 'great'. It looks kind of silly, really!

After a while, it seems to shake the confusion off...but, the look on its face can be easily described as confusion anyway. Bewilderment, if you will! It swoops down once again to furiously jab the Golett, clearly hitting it, but it simply phasing through. It squawks in confusion!

"Uh, Mazinger, this might sound strange, but...just...let it do that."

The Golett looks to her, then to the Skarmory, which seems to be tiring itself out with a series of rapid jabs that don't actually do anything. Lecia takes a minute to finish her water, this whole encounter exhausting her further...then sees about addressing this bird-brain.

"...Hey! You look tough, but kind of confused! In a lot of ways. If you wanna get tougher and never be confused by anything again, come with me! I'm smart and strong, and we can become strong together!"

She says, while tired and thirsty. Perhaps some adrenaline was involved, but even though that, this much must have been clear to the bird. Yet, it still stopped to consider...then looks almost embarrassed at this whole show. It seems to sigh as it retracts its sharp wings. Clearly, this weird ghost golem has bested it. It seems to accept this!

"...Then, welcome to the team, Cybuster!"

The bird isn't quite sure what a Cybuster is, but Lecia's already throwing the Pokeball. Despite it getting confused just after she said 'never be confused again', it goes inside once the ball makes contact, and there's not much shaking before the satisfying click! It all starts to sink in for Lecia...

"...This is the first Pokemon I caught~! This is the beginning of my journey! On top of a volc--I should get down from here."

For all the fun and excitement, catching her first Pokemon on a volcano is exhausting and IT'S STILL WAY TOO HOT. She definitely needs to get down, maybe have some ice cream...

"...Thanks for your help, Mazinger! ...Now, return, don't want you to overheat or anything~!"

With spring in her step, she heads down the volcano, which is a lot easier to do, even if she's more tired!
