While that mission was something all in it's own, Crispin had to admit it was worth the effort.  That curry alone was dang good, and he was very glad he stockpiled the spices while he was there.  Mabon was thrilled too, and Crispin was pretty sure him taking the spices is what made him pleased to join his team.  The walk back down the mountain was much better than the walk up it.  Faster, too, and that was the good part.  Well.  Mostly good.  The downside was he and his partner didn't get nearly enough time to talk on the way down as they did on the way up─and they didn't get to say much on the way up either.  

That's why after they spoke with the "Curry Man", they decided to meet up back on campus so they could chat.  Crispin hadn't really gotten to socialize with any of the other students yet, after all, and it was silently killing him on the inside.  He loved wandering around and discovering new places of course, but that only went so far for him. Going this long in a school filled with people and not actually talking to any of them?  Horrible.

Once he got to the Commons, Crispin plopped himself into one of the couches and pulled out his e-book again.  He was early, so he figured he'd just pass the time while he waited.  It wasn't as though they were in any sort of a rush this time around anyway, so he wasn't concerned with how long it took her to get there. As usual, Jove was nesting away in Crispin's hair and peeking out at his surroundings, and for once even Tori was awake, sitting on the arm of the couch closest to her person as she cautiously watched the other students in the room around them.

Kotone sighed blissfully, feeling the pleasant breeze gently tousle her freshly-washed hair. She had immediately taken a shower after returning to her dorm, and was overall rather pleased with having finished a mission without any major slip-ups along the way. Not to mention, there was the chance she could have earned a new friend along the way. 

As Kotone headed to the Commons, she gave Finn and Tae more free-reign than usual as they romped about. Although she had given her Deino a stern talking to, it had ended up flowing into one ear and out the other. As such, he was still roughhousing around without a care in the world. And, Kotone was content to watch her Pokemon relax and enjoy themselves, but, as she approached her destination building, she called both Finn and Tae back to her. Scooping Tae up, Kotone was grateful that he was in a good mood as he didn't complain, instead going lax and quiet. Finn, of course, was never a problem.

Heading inside, Kotone glanced around until she saw Crispin sitting on a nearby couch, glancing at the screen of his electronic device. Grinning, she walked over to him, greeting him once she was close enough.

"Hey," she sat down next to him. "Sorry for making you wait again. I accidentally spent more time cleaning up than I meant to."

While Tae scrambled out of Kotone's grasp to situate himself in the space between her and Crispin, Finn remained on the floor. Curiously, he approached the Abra who sat on the far arm rest, although he stopped at a respectable distance and offered her a quiet, but amiable, chirp.

"Is that your Abra?" Kotone asked, glancing at the aforementioned Pokemon, who seemed to be rather on edge. While she knew Finn meant no harm, Kotone was prepared to call him away if his closeness bothered the other Pokemon.

As he heard the familiar voice, Crispin looked up from his book and shifted so he wasn’t taking up quite as much room on the couch. Smiling at her as she sat down, he shook his head, “Naw, you're gran'. Oi got 'ere early, anyway.” Glancing down to the Pokémon sitting between them, he nodded a greeting, “An' 'ello again ter yer, too. Yer did a deadly job wi' dohs Pokémon before.” Despite the Pokémon’s attitude during their assignment, Crispin still spoke kindly to the grumpy Pokémon. After all, for all he knew the poor thing was just in a mood. Everyone got in one of those funks once in awhile, and Crispin wouldn’t hold that against this little guys just yet.



When the smaller Pokémon came into view, Tori leaned down and looked at him curiously, tilting her head. Reaching out a hand, she gently patted Finn on the head, making a soft noise. Pulling her hand back, she nodded to the human that joined her own and nodded her greeting before leaning back onto the couch again. Crispin nodded, scratching Tori behind the ear. “Yep, me first partner. 'Er name is Tori, she's a sweetheart. De main raisen oi decided ter com learn from de academy.” Jove peered out from Crispin’s nest of hair, two of his tiny legs held up in front of him as he cozied himself in. He seemed to smile excitedly at the other human, humming quietly in happiness.



Tilting his heat at Kotone, Crispin raised an eyebrow. “Wat aboyt yer? Who wus yisser first partner? If yer don’t mind me curiosity, t'be sure.” He leaned back into the couch more, tucking his e-reader away into his bag. Tori shifted slightly on her ‘seat’, pulling her legs up to herself and watching the others as though she was a significant contributor to the conversation.

When Crispin greeted him, Tae offered him a curt once-over before turning away with a haughty sniff. The Deino obviously thought the other trainer wasn't worth his time, and Kotone flushed at her Pokemon's behavior.

"Tae, stop that! You're being rude," she admonished him sternly, although she was careful to keep her voice down. Turning back to face her companion, she offered him an apologetic smile. "I'm so sorry, Crispin. Please don't take it personally. It's just how he always it."

Finn, on the other hand, saved her a lot of trouble. He was much calmer and friendlier; when the Abra patted him on the head, instead of growing rambunctious, Finn merely chirruped happily before trotting back to Kotone's side. Leaping into her lap, he nosed past Tae — who grunted stubbornly — to greet Crispin and sniffed curiously at his hair. Finn knew the Joltik was situated on Crispin's head. Luckily, Kotone had yet to catch on.

"Hi, Tori," Kotone waved at the Abra briefly. To Crispin, she said, "She looks like a great partner! Finn, here," she paused to scratch her Eevee under his chin, inciting a delighted purr. "Is actually my first teammate. He was a gift from my parents a few years ago. And then, I got Tae from the academy. Of course, before I chose him, they told me that he was going to be the sweetest little guy in the world. I bet you can tell how that turned out."

And, although Tae knew she was joking, he still huffed pointedly at her words.

"But, what did you think of the mission?" Kotone asked as she ruffled Tae's fur, hoping to soothe the Deino. "The curry we ate was definitely worth all the trouble, wasn't it?"

Laughing slightly, Crispin shook his head. “Don’t worry aboyt it, ‘e reminds me av me mom’s Dragonite. ‘E’s completely loyal, but ‘e definitely 'ad a chip on 'is shoulder.” He would say perhaps it was a dragon thing, but Endogeny was the polar opposite, and Mabon was completely laid back. Just like people, Pokémon had their own little quirks. As long as the little guy didn’t cause Kotone any trouble because of it, they would be fine.

Tori smiled happily at the little Pokémon, and seemed to chuckle slightly as he nosed his way through to Jove. Crispin laughed as well, petting the Eevee. Jove chirped happily and vibrated slightly, patting the Eevee on the nose with his front two legs. When the other Pokémon went back to his trainer, Jove peeked out further from his nest and tilted his head. He stayed put though, not wanting to leave the warmth and static-electricity that was built up in his trainer’s head.

He grinned and glanced over to his partner, “She definitely is. We’re slowly workin' on gettin' 'er trained up well, thankfully, an' de school is 'elpin' heaps so far. ‘Opefully it’s al' up from 'ere.” Looking to the mentioned Eevee he smiled, “Aw, Finn is a funtarstic name for 'im too. 'Is pelt is wonderful as well, yer don’t sae many silver Eevees.” Laughing out loud, he glanced to Tae, “Well, if dat isn’t 'oy it usually weurks oyt. At laest ‘e seems ter be deadly in battle, an' oi’m sure de school 'ill 'elp curb 'is attitude at laest a bit. As for me, oi picked Jove, me Joltik, whaen oi came 'ere. 'E’s a sweet wee bugger, an' packs more puk than 'is wee size wud suggest. Oi’m jist worried aboyt wat 'e’ll due whaen ‘e evolves an' 'as a 'ard time sittin' in me 'air anymore.” Jove seemed to shudder at the thought, burrowing back further into his ‘nest’. It seemed he didn’t want to think about that either.

Thinking back to the mission, he dipped his head to the side slightly with a shrug. “Oi 'ad fun, that’s for sure. It wus gran' practice, oi got sum spices ter keep for cookin' an' a Pokémon ter gie dem ter, an' den another Pokémon once we got back. Den a friend after al' av it wus done an' over wi'. An' den aye, de curry alone wus well worth de effort. Oi’m jist glad oi managed ter finagle de recipe from ‘im afterwards, too.” His eyes sparkled at that comment, the boy obviously excited by that fact. “Wat aboyt yer? Wat ye tink aboyt al' av it?”

When Kotone saw two thin, yellow legs creep out of Crispin's hair, she tensed, instantly recognizing the Joltik from the last mission. And, although she knew better than to judge Pokemon by their species alone (take Tae, for example), Kotone still couldn't prevent her hands from growing clammy as she watched the Joltik retreat back into its roost. Finn, as though sensing her distress, crawled into her lap. Curling his fluffy tail over his paws, he twisted into a comfortable position and observed his surroundings lazily. Almost instinctively at this point, Kotone reached down to offer the Eevee a belly rub, and found herself immensely grateful for his support. His presence helped calm her down, and she soon regained her composure. 

"Thanks," she smiled at Crispin, glancing up hesitantly at his hair. "My parents are hardcore travelers, you see, and they get really excited about finding rare Pokemon or new places to explore. They caught Finn overseas, and they gave him to me for my thirteenth birthday..."

Kotone trailed off then, frowning unconsciously as she recalled the events that occurred on that day. But, she shook it off resolutely. It's done, so stop thinking about it. 

Refocusing on the conversation, Kotone forced a smile as he brought up his Joltik. "That would be hard to deal with, wouldn't it?" She laughed awkwardly. "When he evolves, he's going to be roughly 30 pounds, right?"

It was a fact she had read in a book when she was younger, although she had shut the encyclopedia the moment she caught sight of the picture beneath the sentence. Just the thought of being near a large, spider-like Pokemon was already worrying. Kotone had no idea how she would react if she actually came face-to-face with one.

"Ah, I didn't think to ask for the recipe," Kotone groaned internally as she cursed herself. "It would have been nice to be able to make the curry ourselves too, especially since it tasted amazing! But, I think we really got lucky on securing that mission. We got so much out of it, and it was so easy too! Well, having you as my partner definitely made it a lot of fun as well."

Noticing his companion’s initial discomfort, Crispin lifted an eyebrow. He didn’t understand what had upset her, but hoped he hadn’t done something to cause it. The idea his Pokémon could be at fault for anything didn’t even cross his mind. Tori, however, was able to at least catch wind at the cause of Kotone’s discomfort, and looked from her to Crispin’s head curiously.

Paying no attention to the fact she was glancing at his hair, he beamed widely at the mention of travelling. Her frown made him concerned, but he decided to continue on in the hopes that a distraction would cheer her up. “Me mum an' oi traveled al' over de place while oi wus growin' up. 'Tis funtarstic. Chances are, me time 'ere 'ill be de longest oi’ll spend in wan place.” He seemed a little antsy at that last comment, as though he was still getting used to that idea of staying in one place for so long.

Chuckling at her comment, he lifted a hand and gently scratched through his hair as to not disturb the Pokémon nesting there. “Somethin' loike dat, oi tink. Luckily 'e's already wee even for a Joltik, so 'opefully dat pattern remains through evolushun. Oi can 'ope.” Jove hummed quietly, Crispin’s hair rising slightly from static electricity. Thankfully the little bug hadn’t caught onto the other human’s fear of him. The poor little guy would have been mortified. Tori just watched them cautiously, keeping at attention in case anything happened.

Crispin scoffed jokingly and waved a hand, “Pah, don't worry aboyt it. Oi can gie yer a copy av de wan oi got. It definitely seems loike a learnin' curve ter make it as gud as ‘e did, but oi'm sure we can figure it oyt.” Nodding eagerly, Crispin continued, “You're definitely roi on dat wan. Oi'm already excited ter chucker another.” He had actually planned on signing up for another one as soon as they gave him the go ahead. Even if he didn’t get another Pokémon like Mabon, the experience would make it more than worth the effort put into it.

When Crispin began talking, Kotone made sure to tear her focus away from the Joltik in his hair. Don't be rude, she chastised herself mentally. Crispin has the right to raise whatever Pokémon he wants! Listening to him reminisce about his childhood, Kotone gave a soft "wow" of amazement when he said that his time at the Academy was probably the longest he had ever settled anywhere, although she did pick up on his slight discomfort.

"That's really cool," she breathed, attempting and failing to imagine how it would feel to travel all over the world like that. "But, hey, stopping every now and then isn't a bad thing. The world will still be there for you to explore when you graduate, so no worries, yeah?"

Oh, darn. Just when she managed to take her mind off of her irrational phobia, Crispin brought up his Joltik again. Sure, Kotone recognized that the Pokémon meant her no harm, and the fact that Crispin let it sit in his hair meant that the Joltik was at least relatively amiable. But, she just couldn't shake the shiver that ran, unbidden, down her spine as she responded, "Y-Yeah, hopefully."

She forced an awkward laugh, and hoped it sounded genuine. Tae, grumbled. Despite common belief, the Deino was good at reading the mood; he just always chose not to exercise that particular skill. But, even he decided that Kotone's discomfort was too much to ignore. Nudging Finn over for more maneuverability, Tae forced Kotone to scoot over before sprawling, spread-eagle, in the spacious gap he had created, pretending it was for himself. Closing his eyes lazily, he ignored Kotone's confused question and acted as though he was drifting off to sleep. Sighing, Kotone decided not to push it any further, and, instead, returned her focus to the conversation. This time, with a true smile.

"That would be great," she replied when Crispin offered her the recipe. "We could even experiment with it if we have enough time. Who knows, maybe if Pokémon training doesn't work out for us, we could open a curry stand. Honestly, if all the missions were related to food, I would want to sign up for every single one. I know my Pokémon would too!"
