Personality: If Jamie had to be described in one word it'd be "insatiable." In both the literal sense, since her stomach is practically a black hole and offering to take her out to dinner and pay for it will likely result in the person offering becoming broke, and a more figurative sense, as she is very curious and likes to experience everything she can. This curious drive had made her easily distracted, and perhaps even more dangerous, easily bored. The 'bored' part is dangerous because it practically makes her turn her brain off and she will often just start doing the first thing that comes to mind. Those things are often very dumb and are prone to irritating people or getting her hurt. On the more positive end of things, her curiosity has made her very observant and fairly intelligent. Overall, she prefers studying people over more academic persuits, but even such things can entertain her as long as they're presented on her own terms in an interesting way.
Despite that, to people that don't know her, she can seem flighty or even ditzy. Jamie prefers it that way. If people underestimate her it makes it easier to surprise and manipulate them later, and if people expect very little from her it means that she doesn't have to worry about having any kind of responsibility for anything. She is very good at manipulating her image to be what she wants it to be, especially when dealing with people that she's never met. Besides that, she also comes off as very immature, but unlike her airheaded demeanor, that part is actually real. She hates responsibility, she hates dealing with things she considers inconvinient and will often outright refuse to do so, she's bad at keeping commitments, and when bored is prone to fixing it in very strange ways.
Under the surface, Jamie is a complete coward. Despite her tendency to go off and do whatever, she's still somewhat afraid of the dark, will skirt away from anything that will cause her harm if she's thinking properly, will go out of her way to avoid disputes and fights and avoids getting too close to people in general.

History: Jamie's parents never said this to her face, though she suspected it for some time, but she was a 'surprise.' Neither of her parents were exactly ready to have children. In fact, they only got married a month before she was born. They did their best to prepare for the new responsibility in their life, but they were still very unprepared for what would come. Jamie wasn't exactly a whiny baby, but like all babies, she needed care and attention. This meant that her parents had to give up a lot of their hobbies and social life to care for her. They were a little resentful of that, but were pretty good at not taking out on the baby. Instead, they would often take their frustrations out on each other.
As Jamie grew, she was given more and more freedom to do pretty much whatever she wanted. As long as her grades were decent enough and she didn't get arrested her parents didn't complain much. They gradually started going out more and seeing her less, though they did have the decency to be home by dinner to feed her most of the time. Jamie was, for the most part, okay with this. It let her explore many different things, explore the city and the island on her own, and she was free to indulge her curiosity about whatever topic she wanted. Though, she was banned from using the stove after she nearly set their apartment complex on fire.
Hobbies were picked up and dropped quickly. For awhile she had an interest in gymnastics, but in the end it proved to be too much work. For awhile, she went fishing often, but quickly started to find it boring. Swimming, playing with toys, singing, and dancing all followed similar paths. There were only a few things that stuck with her. First and foremost, she absolutely loves the internet. It's a great place to do just about anything, and connect with people from just about anywhere. Secondly, she liked writing stories. For awhile they were silly adventure stories, but she became very good at telling tall tales and making them seem real. Even when she didn't want to, she enjoyed greatly exaggerating things just for fun. She didn't care if people believed her or not, it was just fun making her life seem larger than life. Lastly, she liked photography. More than that though, she liked the combination of photography and Photoshop. Photoshop was like a magic tool that could make anything happen, and could make any story come true.
Growing up, Jamie's life was pretty normal. Her parents fought a lot, but they treated her pretty well. They wouldn't do a lot with her, but she had plenty of friends to make up for it and never really wanted their attention much in the first place. She had a great deal of freedom, and would often abuse it, but she was very good at toeing that line between what was acceptable and what would get peoples', and the police's, attention.
Right before enrolling in the famous Gray Haven Academy on her home island, she got an offer from a weird guy. He said that if she investigated Gray Haven Academy that he'd give her some extra cash. It seemed like a good offer, and Jamie had nothing better to do, so she took it. She didn't have much interest in pokemon, and had no pokemon of her own, but the academy would fix that. Her parents agreed to it quickly, looking happy that she was finally doing something useful with her life. It may have been a weird request, but she didn't realize how deep it went, as she had no idea she was effectively working for Origin now.
