Name: Luke Norwood
Age: 28
Date of Birth: December 19
Birthplace: Lumiose City, Kalos
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual, but not interested in pursuing romance (at first, anyway)
Face Claim: Hubb Lebowsky, Wolf’s Rain
Appearance:
Height: 5’11”
Character Type: Team Origin member
Personality: Generally, Luke is calm and polite, and tries to be pleasant with anyone he comes across, though there are certain triggers that can make him nasty (namely, any probing into his past or marital status). He’s somewhere in the middle between quiet and outgoing, rarely going out of his way to seek out company outside of his friends but also rarely turning it down. He tries to present himself as an ordinary, unassuming local guy when in public to prevent catching any attention that might land him in trouble. This isn’t so far from the truth, but given his affiliation there’s a bit more to him than he’s willing to share with the world at large. He has a few very basic, personal morals that he holds himself to, but he’s not above certain, not-quite-legal acts. His main motivation in life has always been taking care of whatever group he belonged to, and he’s generally more than willing to do whatever is needed or desired of him if it means furthering their survival. The one thing he will not do is steal someone’s pet. Stealing Pokemon from random breeders or shops isn’t a problem because there’s no attachment there, but a pet is part of the family, and he doesn’t want to put anyone through that pain.

History:
Luke wasn’t so much raised as allowed to grow up. His parents were fairly well-off – not exactly rich, but they never worried about money – but they never made much time for him. They’d make sure his basics needs were met, but aside from that they’d keep out of his way and expect him to do the same. He was rarely lonely, though. He’d formed a small, close-knit group with four other children in the neighborhood who were in a similar situation, and the group grew to consider each other their true family.
Eventually, the children grew up, reaching the age where they could legally leave their families. They rented a house together and each did their best to cover their share of the expenses. At first, they tried to do this through honest work, but that was often difficult to come by and they had to resort to theft to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Stealing was a last resort only for a while, but after so many instances where they couldn’t pay for things any other way, it started to become second-nature, and their unconventional family became a band of thieves, stealing even when they could provide for themselves the proper, legal way.
Around this time, romance started blossoming between the friends. Luke fell in love with Della, and a few years later the couple had a double wedding with two of their other friends. A year after that, the remaining friend found a love of her own and added a sixth member to their family.
Then trouble started. The group had gotten a bit too comfortable and careless with their “profession”, attracting the attention of the authorities. It became harder and harder to sneak around, and there were quite a few instances where they were almost caught. One night, after a botched robbery that very nearly got the whole group arrested, they decided it was best to leave the region and start over. They packed only what was necessary and snuck aboard a ship that ended up taking them to Harmonia Island. Excited about their fresh start and determined not to screw things up this time, they decided to change their names and try making an honest living once again.
For a few years, this went well. With six adults providing a modest income, they were easily able to afford room and board and even the occasional luxury. It was a good life, and Luke would have been happy if it had lasted forever.
Of course, it didn’t.
Before long, Luke’s wife announced that she was pregnant. This was happy news, and even now he doesn’t regret it. The pregnancy was pretty much routine and his daughter was healthy. With a baby comes further expenses, though, and one less paycheck for the family. Money grew tight, and the friends were tempted to fall back on old habits. For several months, they resisted, but when a coworker of one of the friends came to them about joining Team Origin, they ended up giving in. This wouldn’t be like before, they reasoned. This was an organized group that knew what they were doing – what could be safer?
So, they joined the team, and everything seemed to go well for everyone. They were able to pull off their missions without incident, and together they were making more money than they’d ever seen before. Luke’s wife wasn’t entirely happy with what they were doing, though. She didn’t think their child should have anything at all to do with Team Origin. Luke was able to reassure her for a while, but when she became pregnant with their second child, things took a nasty turn. One night, without warning, she simply vanished, along with their daughter and two of their friends. Luke searched for all three of them, but never did find them, and he’s since assumed that they’ve run off to a new region to start over again. With half of his friend group gone, his relationship with the remaining members fizzled, and it wasn’t long before they, too, disappeared, leaving him alone. It seemed he was the only one of the six unwilling to abandon the group that helped them stay on their feet.
That was pretty much the latest big event in Luke’s life. Enough time has passed for him that the pain of losing his family and friends is no longer crippling, but he is still very bitter about their betrayal and refuses to even think about them. With everyone else gone, he can no longer afford the house, so he’s moved into the Team Origin base. Now he considers all his teammates part of his family, and gives the group all his focus so he doesn’t have to dwell on his past. He plans to make himself as valuable to the group as possible, and he’s recently “liberated” a couple Pokemon from random shops in town to facilitate his future endeavors.
