Name: Finley Morrow
Age: 16
Date of Birth: January 03
Birthplace: Luminous City, Kalos
Gender: Genderfluid, between male and female. Finley accepts any respectful pronoun at any time, and will gladly tell you her current one if asked. (Biologically male)
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Face Claim: Mami Tomoe - Madoka Magica
Distinguishing Features: Perhaps the most striking thing about Finley’s appearance is not one made immediately evident; being a gender fluid individual, Finley’s gender expression varies from day to day. Generally, when expressing male, Finley’s slightly wavy hair reaches a little long past his ears. Non-uniform outfits include, but are not limited to, variations on the collared shirt plus vestment over the top. When presenting as female, Finley often wears hair extensions and the more feminine side of his wardrobe.
Overall, Finley is pretty average-sized, if not a little thin at the shoulders. Both of his ears are pierced and most commonly adorned with little gold studs. As long as he has access to a shower and comb, his blond hair is neatly done. His eyes are a light, almost gold brown, and have a far-away look to them; his voice is soft and hits about an alto in tone. Actions speak louder than words is a very literal phrase for him.
Height: 5'4
Character Type: Student
Personality:
Finley has a fantastical mind. Romantic and epic scenarios fill her daydreams, and even when focusing on reality is quick to jump into the realm of fantasy. If asked for advice, she’ll reply with fantastical or overly complex ideas. Sometimes she’ll attempt to attain one of these fantastical what-ifs of hers. Most of the drives behind her biggest goals are dreams unobtainable by any means short of divine intervention. Her various adventures are often fueled by one-off ideas. Some of these goals are long-lasting, others will be impromptu and day-long. Because she knows she’ll never obtain her goals, she’s not afraid of falling short. Indeed, she’s fine with outright failing, as long as she does so spectacularly. This has somewhat unintentionally backfired as she may not strive for standard goals that she deems “probably unattainable”, and thus may indulge in laziness.
Finley is a quiet person, commonly maintaining a calm, if not whimsical, demeanor. When scared, she drops her voice to a whisper. Silence is her surprise. That said, she’s not shy, or even untalkative. She simply doesn’t express herself loudly or fiercely. When working with or around others, she will adjust to them; being more talkative around more reserved people, and more passive around the leaderly types. Left to her own devices, Finley tends to take tasks slowly and methodically. In battle and contest, Finley is still developing her style - and as such, will be trying all sorts of things out until she figures out what fits. Because of this, she’s keen to meet (and battle with) many different people and pokemon, and see what they’ve come up with.
Finley’s mind is one of on logic and numbers (it just happens to also be occupied by wild fantasies). Finley isn’t caught up by morals or ideals, but instead lives by cause and effect. She may still working on figuring out what exactly the effects of the causes are, but it’s the currency of her brain runs on.
As odd as it may be for a trainer, Finley’s main goal isn’t to be number one - it’s to put on a good show. For instance, while she likes the idea of rivals, it’s not in the standard sense. Rivals aren’t obstacles for her to overcome, but rather opportunities for epic showdowns.
Finley rejects normality. She prefers to avoid training what she’d deemed “mainstream pokemon”, and when doing so, will try to find unusual ways to train them. Favoring the MacGyver school of problem solving, Finley will use what’s on hand to make odd and possibly unnecessarily complicated solutions. Whether or not they work is a whole other matter.
Other: Finley has a “dream journal”. It’s a simple leather book stamped with flying pokemon, and it’s where she writes down and draws out her wild dreams. She’s far from a great artist, but that hardly matters. While what she looks like may vary greatly from day to day, and sometimes feels socially nervous doing so, Finley takes joy and pride out of making herself look nice. It’s an off day when she’s slapped on a t-shirt and hasn’t bothered with her hair. When Finley’s stressed or needs to take her mind off something, she bakes. Her focus is in sweets and, having learned a thing or two from her parents, she’s pretty good at it.

History:
Finley grew up exactly where one would expect a coordinator would; Luminous City in Kalos. There, one of his mothers, Rosemarie, ran a successful restaurant renowned for the quality of its food. Only the freshest food was served in the refined atmosphere, but twice a week the stiff mood would be broken by the night’s act, which ranged from singers to trapeze artists. His other mother, Sonia, was a popular coordinator. Sonia’s acts were fast-paced aerials, and to say she liked flying type pokemon was an understatement. The only time her hair wasn’t jumbled with stray feathers was when she was grabbed in one of the show dresses Rosemarie had sown for her. Their apartment above the restaurant that always smelt like birds and bread.
A lot of Finley’s young childhood was spent at Sonia’s theater. He’d excitedly watch his mother train her birds, and when that got dull, the other coordinators their pokemon. He awaited with great anticipation the nights they’d finally compeat. Any other children his age who came to the theater, be them children of other performers or those just passing through, were to be immediately deemed his friend and given a grand tour. He was known for those. At that age, he was fairly certain of what he was going to become - a great coordinator like Sonia.
As he grew older, Rosemarie began to teach him the culinary arts. She taught him how to use the oven, handle the large knives, and not get eggshells in his eggs. This was a good time for Finley, alternating between mornings in the theater and evenings baking cakes.
Year thirteen was a year of culmination and change for Finley. Her focus shifted away from being a coordinator, as she found her joy in cooking. It was also when she transitioned into a girl. Her parents were supportive on both fronts (Sonia was slightly disappointed to lose her little coordinator and Rosemarie was ecstatic to pass on her all knowing knowledge of cooking). For the year following, she moved away from the theater and began an apprenticeship under Rosemarie as a cook in the restaurant. On her fourteenth birthday, she got her first pokemon.
The setting was the Lumiose City Lab. The local professor had laid out half a dozen pokeballs before her, telling her she could chose any she liked - and there were more in back if none of these were quite right. Finley spent that entire day meeting pokemon. One after another, she couldn’t help but feel like she’d seen them all, either on the stage or at the restaurant. Until, that is, she met a befuddlement of a pokemon; a little one she thought looked much like a hairball with arms and legs. Something clicked between the would-be trainer and mankey, and so her pokemon was chosen. She named him Brian.
Finley’s fourteenth year was one of reflection and self-finding. While she enjoyed the concentration and fine detail of cooking, she felt restricted within the kitchen walls. This was not something she could do for the rest of her life. She had never fully given up on coordination, and indeed had been trying some with Brian as a little hobby. The thought of training pokemon of all sorts to their fullest potential was beginning to look more appealing. She also found her gender was not quite what she expected; after a year of being entirely female, she began, on occasion, to feel like a boy again. As time passed and she paid attention to her feelings, she found she oscillated between feeling more comfortable as a girl and more comfortable as a boy, changing even on a daily basis. To go otherwise felt strange and false.
He wasn't about to ignore these feelings. As he passed fifteen, he decided that coordination was the path he was going to take, and as sixteen came and went, he figured out how he was going to do it. Finley could have begun working in Lumiose city - the owner of the theater offered him a good starting position - but he feared he’d be riding on his mother’s coat tails. Instead, he’d move to a region where he could make his own name, on his own. After weighing his options, that place was to be Harmonia Island, even if it meant entering the school mid-year.
So, Finley transferred into the Academy. While he’s (mostly) unpacked in his room in the Bolt Dorm, he’s still settling into life at the school.

Starter Pokemon:
MANKEY - Brian
Brian was Finley’s first pokemon. Unlike most of his species, Brian is calm and collected - even practicing meditation. Save for when, every once in awhile, something sets him off on an angry rampage (Finley’s still not completely narrowed down what it is, either. He’s tried and failed many a time). Brian isn’t a big fan of battle, but will readily defend Finley, be it for his honor or from that big pokemon he managed to anger. He favors grace over strength, and, outside of battle, greatly enjoys a good dance.
Moves: Cross Chop | Assurance | Focus Energy | Low Kick
Gender: Male | Ability: Anger Point | Item: None

TOGEPI - Carpe Diem
A parting gift from his parents, Diem is the offspring of one of Sonia’s favorite pokemon. Like most togapi, Diem is quite good at getting herself into trouble. She also seems to hold a deep hatred for any and all malfunctioning electronics or machines. Finley doesn’t very well know Diem yet, and vise-versa, but he’s protective of the baby pokemon. She doesn’t want his help.
Moves: Metronome | Wish | Charm | Follow Me
