Name: Rosemary ‘Rose’ Thorne
Age: 23
Date of Birth: 6th July
Birthplace: Mahogany Town, Johto (but spent most of her childhood travelling)
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Face Claim: Misaki Kirihara (Darker Than Black)
Appearance:
Distinguishing Features: She tends to dress quite smartly in blouse, suit trousers and a smart jacket, though she doesn't mind dresses or skirts every so often.
Height: 5’4”
Character Type: Warden (Gym)
Personality:
Rosemary is a serious, even-tempered woman who rarely shouts or gets excited over anything. She keeps calm and doesn’t make an effort to make herself heard- either people hear her as she normally speaks, or they don’t hear her at all, she doesn’t really care either way.
Rose could be considered to be a bit uncaring in general. She never nicknames any of her Pokémon, and has no patience for repeated mistakes- if a Pokémon doesn’t fight to the best of its potential, she either replaces it or trains it non-stop until it does (or until they both collapse from exhaustion). She expects only the best from her team, even in friendly battles. This insensitive nature stretches to people as well- Rose is not the woman to go to with your problems, because her main response is ‘life’s tough, just deal with it’.
Despite this attitude, Rose is friendly and doesn’t mind talking, as long as it’s not about the past. She just feels she has enough problems of her own without other people trying to bother her with theirs.

History:
Rosemary was born in Mahogany Town in Johto, but she didn’t really grow up anywhere in particular. Her parents were travellers, and she spent the first thirteen years of her life just moving from place to place, never staying in one place for longer than a few months. While some might have found the constant travelling weary and difficult, Rosemary loved it- she was a shy child who found it hard to make friends, and the constant moving around meant she didn’t have to worry about it so much. That and she had an older brother, Lukas, who was her constant companion.
Rose was six when Lukas, four years her senior, gained his first Pokémon as a gift from their parents- an Electrike. Shortly after, he caught and ‘secretly’ gave her an Azurill (though unbeknownst to them, their parents knew exactly what he had done). Because she was so young, Lukas was the one who trained the Azurill, whom Rose named Rain, and all the baby Pokémon was to Rose was a friend and companion, just like her brother. When she was seven it evolved into a Marill, shortly before the Electrike, named Lightning, evolved into Manectric.
But nothing lasts forever. Rosemary was twelve when her life came apart. They were travelling through a cave in Sinnoh, Rosemary, Lukas, Lightning and Rain running on ahead, when they saw a wild Electrode. What it was doing there, Lukas and Rosemary had no idea. But the second the Electrode saw them, it used Self-Destruct- causing the roof of the cave to collapse on top of them all, and knocking Rosemary unconscious.
When she woke up, she was in the hospital. Her parents came to visit, and she repeatedly asked about her brother and the Pokémon- each time she asked, her question was ignored. It was only once she was given the all clear by the doctors that she was told the truth. Lukas and the two Pokémon had been killed when the roof collapsed.
Rosemary was distraught. She shut herself away, refusing to speak to anybody, not even looking at anybody. She told herself it was all her fault, that she should have stopped them from going near the Electrode- or even going in the cave in the first place. Even when she began to recover and go out more, she was sullen and quiet, not even trying to make friends anymore. She stopped caring and shut herself away, scared of events repeating themselves.
Eventually her parents decided there was only one option. In order for Rosemary to regain her confidence, they would send her away to a boarding school, where she would be surrounded by other children and learn how to train Pokémon. And so they packed her off to Gray Haven Academy just before her thirteenth birthday. Rosemary chose the Wave Dorm, receiving a Mudkip and a Carvanha, but refused to nickname either of them. While she worked hard in class, and gradually became friendlier towards people again, she never grew attached to any of her Pokémon, and she refused to so much as consider capturing an Azurill or Electrike. And as time passed and she progressed, she realised she never wanted to leave the Academy. Doing so would hurt too much. So upon her graduation, she wrote to her parents of her intentions and requested to stay on as a warden. Her parents were delighted, thinking Rosemary had found a place she felt happy in. The school accepted her request. And since that day, Rosemary has been a warden for the Wave Dorm, accepting challenges and making sure anyone who wants a badge truly earns it.
