Amelie still wasn't sure how exactly Team Origin intended to utilize her as an infiltrator into the academy. It might be as simple as collecting information, and it might be as complicated as sabotage and sowing mayhem. In either case, knowledge of the nearby wilderness areas would be important.
She had brought a bright flashlight, a compass, and some mapping materials with her into the Obsidian Krag. Her first impression was that it could be a very useful staging area and hiding place for contraband outside the notice of the academy staff. The caves were deep and wide, accessible from several entrances not far from the lava dorm, and big enough that any given spot could go for months without seeing any human traffic. Her ambition was to make her way to one of the deeper, less well-explored areas, and mark a good place to return to for later covert activities.
But Amelie was hardly an expert on the outdoors. It wasn't long before she began to second-guess her mapping efforts. That was a good sign that it was time to return to the surface.
