Name: Amelie van Hoof
Age: 16
Date of Birth: October 15
Birthplace: Mavro City
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Face Claim: Dangan Ronpa - Byakuya Togami... but genderswapped
Appearance:
Distinguishing Features: Fairly tall and without much of a feminine figure. Combined with her sharp facial features, she might be mistaken for a boy whenever her hair is covered. She bears some subtle scars from rebellious Pokemon, but these are only rarely visible. When not in uniform, she prefers to dress in trousers and an overcoat, all the better to carry the tools of her trade and other contraband.
Height: 5'10"
Character Type: Team Origin Spy
Personality: Superficially, Amelie presents a coolly unflappable demeanor: at best, slightly amused, and at worst, mildly annoyed. She has very little that is genuinely nice to say, and most often she only speaks up to ridicule the subject of her attention with acerbic wit. In her natural state, she is not at all a pleasant person to be around, even among her closest associates.
This is almost never the result of any intentional malice or hostility. She is simply the type of person to see the worst in other people, and she does not enjoy seeing it. Expressing her thought process without any sugarcoating is the easiest way for her to get those thoughts off her chest, and if her unkind words motivate the subject to remove himself from her presence, then that's all the better. Whether the subject improves himself as a result is usually considered irrelevant.
Amelie is capable of empathizing with other people, but she has no sympathy for them. In other words, she is perfectly capable of understanding how other people feel, but she just doesn't care. She might be psychologically described as a sociopath if not for the fact that her upbringing outside regular society has given her plenty of time to learn how to conceal her true nature. Her current role as a spy frequently puts her in situations where she needs to act normal in order to avoid drawing attention, and however much it may grate on her nerves, she's willing to do just about anything to avoid blowing her cover.
This is not to say that she is utterly without her own principles. Amelie follows Team Origin's directives with absolute loyalty, even selflessness. She can hardly be said to value her own life beyond its worth as a tool for the administrators to use as they see fit. While she is quite intelligent and theoretically capable of plotting hits and heists on her own, she is still fundamentally a follower rather than a leader. She regards her fellow Team Origin members and their Pokemon with the same lack of concern she ultimately feels for herself, and this has gotten on her partners' nerves in the past.
Likes:
-Trustworthy people, because they're predictable.
-Studying Pokemon, because they can be useful in unexpected ways.
-Flying, because it gives her time to herself.
-Poison type Pokemon, because a little bit of venom can be used to cause a lot of chaos.
Dislikes:
-Unprincipled, ignorant people (she considers these qualities one and the same), because a person should at the very least have loyalty to something.
-Uniforms, including the academy uniform, because wearing them makes her stand out in non-uniformed company.
-Lawful authority figures, including the academy staff, because they're always a potential obstacle to criminal plans.
-Overly cute Pokemon, because the only thing more humiliating than being forced to use them is being defeated by them.
History: Amelie's life has always been connected to the criminal elements of Mavro City. Her parents both made their living through petty crime, and while Amelie has never gotten along very well with them, their disregard for society's morals rubbed off on her.
Throughout her childhood, Amelie was always regarded as exceptionally bright, with a particular affinity for Pokemon studies. However, the prospect of becoming an official Pokemon trainer never held any appeal to her, and she had no interest in attending Gray Haven Academy. Instead, she took a morbid interest in all the ways Pokemon can be used for mischief outside of official battles, from using Psychic type moves to scramble the brains of witnesses to using Fire type moves to burn all potentially incriminating evidence within the nearest city block.
Amelie's parents were recruited into Team Origin as disposable grunts early in the organization's inception, and the adolescent Amelie herself was enchanted at the prospect of being part of something bigger. She joined the group with gusto, showing great promise even as a young recruit.
However, Amelie performs quite poorly both in Pokemon training and in Pokemon duels. This is in part because she controls her Pokemon with fear rather than love, and in part because she's entirely willing to sacrifice her Pokemon wherever it's convenient, leaving them behind as distractions or to cause as much destruction as possible with complete disregard for their safety. Amelie simply does not form the bond with her Pokemon that most trainers do. She has controlled some powerful Pokemon in the past and used them to aid her own criminal activities, but her weaker Pokemon refuse to evolve for her, and this has stunted her progress in the ranks of Team Origin.
While Amelie is quite pleased to have been trusted with an infiltration mission inside Gray Haven Academy, she privately suspects that this is the admins' way of telling her to just learn how to be a proper Pokemon trainer already. And even if it's not something she'd consider on her own, the fact that this is the will of Team Origin means that she's going to form a bond with her Pokemon or kill them trying.
Dorm: Lava Dorm
Uniform Color: Orange
Starter Pokemon:
Nickname: Obligatory
Species: Gible
Gender: Female
Ability: Rough Skin
Held Item: -
Moves: Sand Attack, Take Down, Sand Tomb, Dragon Claw
Personality: A Pokemon stolen by Team Origin from her original trainer to serve as the obligatory unevolved type-matching Pokemon for entrance into Amelie's preferred dorm. Obligatory (if she had another nickname, Amelie hasn't bothered to learn it) is not fond of her trainer, to put it mildly. She's learned that it's best to obey direct commands, but she still rebels in small ways wherever possible.
Nickname: Spoilator
Species: Gulpin
Gender: Male
Ability: Liquid Ooze
Held Item: -
Moves: Yawn, Poison Gas, Encore, Sludge Bomb
Personality: Spoilator is a Pokemon that has survived an unusually long time in Amelie's care. This is due both to the fact that she uses him more for his ability to digest any incriminating evidence than for Pokemon battles and to the fact that he's dimwitted enough to not be bothered by Amelie's harsh manner. He's content to act as a glorified paper shredder and occasionally try spewing his acid on something that fights back.
