History: Lumiose city was the home of the King family. There Jasper and his two sisters, one older and one younger, lived with their parents. Their father a once skilled pokemon trainer, now enjoying an early retirement by running his own shop and their mother, a pokemon researcher and engineer. Jasper often spent time with them while they are at work which is where he acquired his love for technology. When he was with his father, Jasper would help with deliveries around the city or help out at the shop. He would often be carried out by his sisters to roam the city however.
Because he was raised with sisters and no brothers, he wasn’t very confrontational, which worried his father since his father wanted him to be a pokemon trainer when he got older. Thinking it was an issue of confidence Jasper’s father bought him a pokeflute for his eighth birthday which jasper played often and even mastered in a fair amount of time. Even so, the thought of battling just wasn’t appealing to young Jasper. His parents believed it was just that he wasn’t that interested in pokemon so they devised a plan for his next birthday.
On the day of his ninth birthday the entire family took him to Coumarine city to borrow a friend’s boat to go sailing. At first he enjoyed it, the fresh ocean air but what really caught his eyes was the many pokemon swimming alongside the boat, jumping in and out of the water, and the Swanna, Wingull and Pelliper which would fly by them and land on the boat. The moment was magical to Jasper and he finally saw wonderment behind pokemon. He spent most of that day playing with the many pokemon that came onto the boat. He also played his pokeflute for the many pokemon there, however this awakened a sleeping Gyrados that was resting underwater nearby. In a rage, it jumped out of the water launching hydro pump after another. It knocked the ship over and knocked Jasper unconscious.
When he came to, he was already at home in bed. He was out cold for a few hours. Fortunately, nobody was hurt but Jasper developed a fear of boats. Jasper’s father blamed himself for the incident and stopped trying to get Jasper into being a pokemon trainer. Jasper’s mother however decided to at least get Jasper a pokemon. Whether he would be a trainer or not was no longer important to her. She just wanted to see him with a pokemon and using her connections got him a pokemon egg. Jasper was sceptical at first but he cared for the egg regardless and a few weeks later out came a shiny Froakie which he nicknamed Quartz, his first ever pokemon.
Over the next few years he would play with Quartz but never once engaged in a battle. Nearing his thirteenth birthday he was walking along one of the routes outside of the city when he heard a loud noise. Not sure what to do, Jasper rushed towards it to see if anyone was hurt. Upon arriving he saw a Riolu being beaten by an Onix. Unsure of what to do Jasper prepared himself to run away but Quartz had another idea and ran to attack the Onix. Jasper watched as Quartz attempted to fight the Onix but without any idea of what it’s doing it was losing. Jasper, once frozen in fear realized he couldn’t leave Quartz and the Riolu there alone. He quickly gave Quartz the command to use water pulse which did substantial damage to the Onix and also confused it. In that moment Jasper ran and grabbed the Riolu and Quartz and ran for it. The Onix quickly recovered and charged after him. As they got closer to the entrance of the city a blast of water knocked the Onix over and to the floor. When Jasper stopped and looked he saw his father and his father’s Quagsire. His father came to him and after getting a quick synopsis of the situation Jasper rushed to the pokemon center to have them look at the Riolu. They took the Riolu under observation to be safe after quickly patching up Quartz.
On the day of Jasper’s thirteenth birthday his mother carried the Riolu to him fully healed. The Riolu was greatly indebted to Jasper and refused to leave his side. Jasper had acquired his second pokemon which made him think about what would have happened if Quartz hadn’t stepped in to stop the Onix. He decided to go and follow in his parents’ footsteps and become a pokemon trainer and also do some studies and look into becoming a pokemon researcher. He signed up for the Gray Haven Academy, which his sister went to when she was younger, because of its location and reputation. He got in just shortly after his fourteenth birthday and he was more than excited to get in. Thus, his journey began… unfortunately it began with a very anxious filled, sea sick ridden boat ride all the way to the School.
