[Naveta Lejori]

Naveta had already looked in, what she considered the inappropriately named, Obsidian Krag, but she wasn't quite done yet.  Not in the sense that she was starting a more thorough investigation of some of the areas, she didn't intend to do that until she had at least seen everything, but because she heard there were fossil beds in the caves.  That alone made her pretty sure these caves weren't actually obsidian, but they were certainly some kind of dark rock.  She supposed they might have been talking about the color rather than the glassy rock.  The thought of finding some fossils in this area excited her quite a bit.  It meant she'd be able to more reliably date the rocks around here, and that there would probably be some interesting layers of rocks deeper in the caves.  It was certainly worth a side trip before she continued with her quick survey of the island.

The trip to the Obsidian Krag itself was uneventful.  The climb was always relatively difficult, but it was nothing she couldn't handle, she had been doing this kind of thing for years now.  Finding the fossil caves themselves wasn't any harder.  There was a notable change in the rock around it, so all she really had to do was try to find rock that was older than the rock at the surface.  The patterns in it made that part relatively straight-forward.  Naveta didn't see any signs of fossils yet, but there were enough different rocks and shinier stones that she was pretty sure she was in the right place.  Before she did any digging, she wanted to take a quick look around to see what was on the surface.  She wasn't sure if this cave was natural or dug by humans, but either way, it would be useful to take a look around.  The area was dark, but her Misdreavus Arkose was able to light it up easily.  She was also making no effort to be quiet, figuring that the worst that would happen is that she would attract some wild pokemon, and she could just catch those.

Eventually, her exploration took her to a fairly open area with several tunnels connecting to it.  There was no signs of anything wrong with it, until she started stepping in the middle of the open area.  A loud crack echoed through the caves as the rock crumbled under her feet.  Thanks to her quick reflexes, she was able to take a few steps before the ground was completely gone, and that was just enough for her to grab onto the edge of the newly formed hole.  The remains of the floor tumbled into the hole below, the sound of falling rock continue to echo throughout the caves.  Naveta grabbed onto the edge with both her hands and breathed a sigh of relief.  Arkose just lowered her glowing body to Naveta's eye level with a smug look on her face.  It was unfortunate that he wasn't strong enough to carry her back up or this would be easy.

"Fuck you Arkose," despite her words her expression didn't even show any signs of irritation towards the Misdreavus.  "Go up a little more."

Arkose illuminated the ledge Naveta was hanging onto.  The ledge was still hanging over the hole, and there were some notable fissures in it.  It was fortunate that she only weighed like 80 pounds or this probably would have collapsed the second she grabbed it.  Even then, if she shifted her weight wrong or stayed on it for too long, it would likely fall anyway.  Naveta looked down into the hole below.  She could see the bottom, so it wasn't that deep at least.  It wouldn't be the end of the world if she fell, but she'd rather not.  Further, the edges of the cave walls in the hole were completely smooth.  It was definitely not natural based on how the rest of the cave looked, and it was probably carved out relatively recently too.  Why whoever, or whatever, stopped just before breaching the surface of this part of the cave structure was unknown to her, but she was kind of okay with that.  It looked like the cave structure continued below with similar odd smoothness.  That was enough analysis, it was time to get out of here.

Naveta started to slowly shimmy over to a more stable area slowly and carefully.  The last thing she wanted was for that bit of rock to fall, causing her to fall in the hole.  Her movements were slow and calculated.  It would take her awhile to get to an area where it was safe to pull herself up, but spending some extra time to keep herself safe certainly beat falling.

((Just in case I wasn't clear in the post, having your character go over to help her would cause the ledge she's on to collapse, thus dumping both Naveta and her potential rescuer into the hole.  Feel free to make that happen in your post.))

Ooh a cave, Alex liked going into caves. Maybe he could find something of particular interest in it. Maybe like treasure or pokemon? Either or would be cool to get, the lazy man waltzed into the cave and looked around. It was a bit dark and it was hard to see until he saw something glowing more into the cave. As he got into the cave more he then saw what the glowing thing was, it was a Misdreavus. A rather smug looking Misdreavus he wondered what the deal was, and then suddenly there was another voice a girl's voice coming from the darkness. 

"Oh is someone in the cave too? Trapped?"

Alex couldn't see very well even if the pokemon was glowing and stuff so he walked forward toward the edge where the girl was and heard rocks cracking underneath his foot and the floor shook.

"Oops."

The edge was suddenly collapsing, quite the start for cave adventure huh?

Naveta was making progress shimming over to a more sturdy part of the wall, but the progress was slow.  It had to be because one wrong move would send her into the hole.  The hole wasn't that deep, so the landing wouldn't hurt that hard, but it was deep enough that even standing on her taller pokemon she wouldn't be able to climb back up, and she'd rather not spend her afternoon navigating an obviously artificially made tunnel when she had no idea where it went or what created it.

Sadly, she ended up not having much choice.  

It started out innocent enough.  She heard some other footsteps in the cave.  It was probably just some other traveler.  The cave in was loud enough that she figured whoever it was knew about it, and if they were smart they'd avoid this part of the cave.  Assuming people were smart was always hoping for too much though.  Then she heard a voice.  She couldn't quite make out what it was saying though.  The footsteps continued to get closer, but Naveta couldn't easily just see which direction the person was going.  Trying to pull herself up at this point would likely cause the whole thing to collapse on her.  It wasn't until they started getting really close that there was really no mistaking where the person was going.

"Wait, what are yo--"

By the time she spoke up it was too late.  She heard a loud crack echo throughout the cave.  Her eyes widened and she gritted her teeth.  At this point she was definitely going to fall because of some idiot, so the best she could do was minimize the impact of the inevitable fall.  She curled her legs up so she could push herself off of the overhang she was on, and onto a more sturdy wall.  The wall was way too smooth to hang onto, but it would at least slow her decent if she managed to get her feet against it.  It worked well enough, though she still ended up falling a bit because she  couldn't cling to the wall very well.  The landing was surprisingly soft though.

Arkose was still up by the top of the hole with the same smug expression on his face.  It meant the hole was lit well enough for the time being, but she was definitely going to have to call him down before she ventured further into the tunnel.  For now, she rubbed her head and took her time getting up.  The floor felt odd though.  The rock didn't look like it'd feel like this, or be breathing for that matter.  One look down, even with the dim lighting, revealed that she landed on the person that presumably caused all this to happen in the first place.  She blinked slowly a few times and sighed.  In the end, she was still going to get up at her own pace, unless this moron forced her to get up faster.  She didn't feel any sympathy for his current situation since it was his own damn fault in the first place.

At the same time the floor was caving in he heard the voice respond, it was a girl. Oh crap did he just kind of kill a person!? Holy crap he was falling too! He noticed that the drop wasn't deep but it was gonna hurt like you would not believe. He covered the back of his head and braced for impact. It wasn't too bad when he hit the ground, fell back facing the ground. The cave floor was very cold and it chilled his skin, giving him goosebumps. He then felt something, or rather someone land on him. 

"Uff."

She fell right onto his torso pretty hard, she didn't seem to weigh much so it wasn't that bad but it still made him want to curl up a bit. He grunted, and obvious indication that he was in slight pain. He ran a hand through his hair and made sure he didn't suffer from a concussion or something. No he was good. He peeked over to the girl that decided to use him as safety net. She seemed pretty small and frail, she looked like she hadn't seen sleep in gods know how long. Her hair was just as crazy is his was. It was blonde too, it kind of looked like she just slapped a fur coat on top of her head. She also looked hella annoyed, she certainly was taking her sweet time getting off of him, he couldn't  help but chuckle.

"Comfy miss?"

He sighed and looked up from where they fell, well it looks like they weren't going back the way they came. Also that Pokemon up there looked more smug than ever, if that was possible. He reasoned that it was hers, she looked annoyed with him too. She probably was just annoyed in general and Alex didn't help none, oops.

"Well whenever you're done feeling comfy we might as well advance. Call up your grinning buddy up there and we can go."

Alex politely waited for her to get up and adjust herself and when she would get up he would too. Then he'd check his bag for a flashlight or something.

"Not so much," she stretched and rubbed her head.  "Just surprised.  Can't say I expected the floor to cave in on me.  It seemed even less likely that someone would intentionally walk towards where a loud cave in came from, forcing me into the hole I narrowly avoided.  Life is just full of surprises you know?"

Her tone was dry and flat, but not as irritated as her words suggested.  With that, she stood up and stretched her legs without bothering to dust herself off.  At this point her clothes were covered with so much dirt already, and would get even more on them in the future, that it was just a futile effort.  Now that she had her bearings, and recovered from the initial shock of the fall, she supposed she might as well get out of here.  The other guy was taking all of this surprisingly well all things considered.  Since there was only one tunnel unless he could fly, Naveta figured he'd be following her.  At least he wouldn't be the sniffling or scared type.

"Hey, Arkose!  Get down here, we're going this way."

Strictly speaking by 'we' she meant herself and her misdreavus, but she assumed the other guy would include himself in that.  Arkose gently floated down from his perch on the top of the hole and stopped by Naveta's shoulder.  She took a moment to examine the walls of the tunnel once more now that she could see them close up.  The tunnel itself was round, a perfect circle at that.  It was also completely smooth, even a little further in, and glossy to the touch.  It was also tall enough that even if she were to stand on pratfall king over there's shoulders she still wouldn't be able to touch the roof.

"This tunnel isn't natural.  I didn't plan on seeing what made it, but I get the feeling I'll be finding out now.  Whatever it is, it's probably huge based on the size of this tunnel."

The tunnel was dark, and Arkose's light could only go so far without being too bright to see at all.  Between that and the potential threat of the cave's creator, Naveta wasn't inclined to move particularly fast.  It was more important for her to know exactly what was in front of her, even if that looked like a lot of nothing right now.  She wasn't exactly waiting on the other guy, in fact she started moving before he even sat up, but she figured if he wanted to catch up he'd be able to pretty easily.  Only a magikarp out of water would have trouble keeping up with her at this point.

Alex couldn't help but to cackle at that.

"Yeah, life tends to throw unwanted surprises at ya, like walking blindly into a cave no knowing the ledge might give out. Good times, good times."

The moment she actually got up he got up as well and began to look through hi bag for that flashlight that was previously mentioned. While he was looking for it in the dark, the girl rambled on about the cave not being natural and that whatever made it was pretty big.

"Seriously? That sounds pretty awesome, gonna have to write this down for the books. Can't wait t see what it is!" 

As soon as he finished his statement he found the flashlight at last. He flipped in on and that was much better than replying on the grinning goober beside him. It extended their view at a longer range but it wasn't too terribly bright.

"Aha, there we are. Now we can see better."

He already heard her leaving the moment she got up and so he figured he'd catch up to her right quick. Which he did, before he knew it he was already behind her. With his flashlight she could probably see a hell of a lot better now.

Naveta winced when he talked.  Now that she was in the tunnel proper his voice reverberated off the walls more and he did not appear to have an inside voice at all.  She rubbed her ears and continued moving.  A loudmouth was still a better traveling companion than a coward or someone that wouldn't stop apologizing for making her fall into the tunnel.  Probably.  She supposed she might change her mind if she went deaf before getting out of here.

"How about you walk in front then?  That way, you'll get to see it first, and if it's hungry it'll eat you first."

Flash was meant to bright enough to blind people in pokemon, not that much unlike a flashbang.  Obviously, Arkose wasn't using its full strength when lighting the cave, as he was supposed to be helping Naveta see, not blinding her further.  The downside to using flash rather than something else was that the light emanated from the pokemon using the skill.  Put them too far in front and they'd be more likely to blind her than help her.  Put them too far back and their light wouldn't light up the path quite as well, making it like moving through fog.  Despite its drawbacks, Naveta still found it more convenient than having to worry about bulbs and batteries.  Having a second light source was welcome.

"I'm amazed that landed back in your bag after that fall.  Or were you walking blind before now?" she raised an eyebrow.

She wasn't quite sure how literally she should be taking his first comment.

Alex shrugged and walked up ahead.

"Sure and while it's killing me you can run away."

He says jokingly, but he knew that that could happen. He was confident that his pokemon can beat whatever was down here. Then she brought up his flash light and how it magically reappeared back into his bag. He couldn't help but chuckle nervously.

"Uh I was gonna use it but then I saw your pokemon and I heard you voice and it kind of distracted me and I forgot to pull the flashlight out."

He scratched the back of his head, knowing that she was probably thinking that he was a huge idiot. But no, he just couldn't focus on one thing with sudden distractions. That was understandable right?

"So you came in here to study this part right? And you said this cave was made unnaturally right? What were expecting to find down here?"

She was kidding, but it looked like he took her seriously anyway. It didn't really matter much, but in the end, she didn't really like having people walking behind her. It unnerved her when she couldn't keep an eye on people properly.

"That's the idea. Not sure where I'll run given this is a small tunnel at the bottom of a cliff, but I'll figure that part out later."

All she could do was stare at him after his response to her flashlight inquiry. At least he had some self-awareness about how stupid this was. So stupid that she had to question whether all this was real or not. It was always difficult to tell when someone was actually stupid, or when they were just pretending. Stupidity was either a sign of a really dumb person or a total genius, nowhere in between. It was always difficult to tell which it was too, which made idiots the most dangerous people to be around, regardless of whether it was real or not. Naveta continued to stare for a moment longer, then blinked slowly and looked back ahead.

"Can't say I'm used to hearing that my voice is that mesmerizing," she said flatly. "Well, I didn't come here intentionally, but I did come to the fossil caves to look for fossils surprisingly enough. What, were you after something else?"

"I'm sure there's more then one way out of here, I don't know about you but something like this looks like a part of a series of tunnels that can lead out multiple ways."

Alex yawned lightly, oh boy it was almost nap time for him and he was still messing around in some spooky dark cave. Not that it wasn't interesting but he didn't want to stand around and do the same thing for a long time either. He couldn't help but snort when she was talking about hearing how mesmerizing her voice was, this chick was some crazy character but it was the good kind crazy that Alex thoroughly enjoyed. Hmm looks like she only wanted to mess with the fossils which is cool Alex thought about getting a fossil of his own so he could get one of those ancient pokemon people seem to keep reviving. Although he felt like pokemon that don't exist but only through remnants of the past should stay...fossilized. After all they went extinct for a reason right? But Alex still wanted one too at the same time. He was contradictory sometimes.

"Oh no, I came out here on a whim. Well I guess that's not entirely true. I hear a few weeks ago in the city that people were coming up here to dig for fossils and they'd hear weird sounds coming from out here I guess? They assumed it was out of no where but I suppose the sheer darkness didn't allow them to see the bottom of this pit here."
