When Serena first heard about the mission board, she wasn't sure how helpful she'd be able to be.  Her first time through, there weren't any missions she could take.  While she was a little disappointed she couldn't help, she was sure that those that volunteered would do a better job than her anyway.  The second time, there was a request, but she was hesitant to take it.  She could probably take care of any heavy lifting necessary, but she wasn't sure about how well she'd be able to take care of any wild pokemon, or if her own pokemon would prove dangerous to any other students trying to help.  When she came back, the position was still open though.  After a moment's thought, she decided to volunteer herself, if only so that the job would get done.  The students in the wave dorms were probably missing those supplies after all.

Serena was familiar enough with the island by now that getting to the base of the Vanilla Peaks wasn't that difficult.  The only thing that made it a little difficult was the difference in climate between the peaks and the rest of the island.  The rest of the island was quite warm, but the peaks were really cold.  In order to do this mission properly, she needed to bundle up, but that made the trip there exhausting.  It was so hot that the frosty temperatures in the peaks were welcome.  She even kept her jacket unzipped to cool off for a bit.  She was also happy that she could get away with wearing her outdoor clothing instead of the frillier stuff her mother always got her.  She always felt more comfortable in some nice jeans and hiking boots.

She looked around for a moment, but didn't see anyone else.  She was pretty sure she was supposed to be traveling with two other students at least.  Serena didn't think she was late at all.  Maybe she was just early?  Hopefully she wasn't so late that they just went ahead without her.  For the time being, she just paced back and forth at the base of the Vanilla Peaks, waiting for the other students to show up.  Assuming they would.

Ah yes, the biting cold! Luu felt that the chilling temperature was somehow nostalgic as it reminded him of his days back in Jublife when the frost would cover the streets of the city. The blanket of white would somehow mesmerize him, and now that he was in the part of the island that shared the same feature, he found himself reliving a bit of that wonder when he was a child. Especially when he snuck out of the house the first time under the snow...

He was bundled up, and didn't have his trusty partner Pokemon Gogo with him this time since she was a Grass Type, and who knew what dangerous Ice types this place would harbor. Upon accepting the mission and reading over the data again, he realized that his team was poorly balanced. His only Fire type, Penny, hadn't been trained for too long for Luu to feel confident about her, and the only other Pokemon he felt that could handle the cold better were his two Water Types. Well, he sure hoped to fix this another day, but for now he needed to focus.

As nice as the cold weather was, trudging through the snow was a lot harder than dirt, and it was quickly starting to tire him out. Thankfully the base wasn't too far up the mountain, and he wondered if he was late or something since the time specified for the meet up was unclear. He let out a deep exhale; a puff of mist escaping from his lips. Okay, just a few more steps and...there! He was at home base, what a relief.

And lo and behold, someone was waiting there after all. She looked pretty familiar, but at first wasn't sure where he had seen her before..."Hey!" he called as he waved his arm up in the air, "Are you one of the students on this mission?"

Icy blue eyes scanned over the winter wonderland as a dark-haired trainer made his way through the challenging peaks. It was that the peaks themselves were a bit difficult to climb up, it was more so the extremely low temperature and ice that often made the path a bit tedious and challenging. It was Dylan's first time actually exploring the Vanilla Peaks and he was starting to understand why he had never held a desire to explore such a place. Heck, the only reason why he had decided to visit the icy mountains were because he had signed up for a special mission located on the school's mission board. Apparently to the description of the mission, some of the packages that belong to the Wave Dorm students had managed to disappear on the way to the dorm. Dylan was one of the students, who were actually missing a package from back him. Therefore, he was more than determined to help find those mission packages and to return them back to their rightful owners. 

A soft cough escaped from Dylan's mouth as he shoved his hands into his warm pockets. He was wearing one of his favorite swim team jackets, a stylish scarf, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of climbing boots. He had called himself dressing perfectly for the new climate. Unfortunately even his warmest clothes aren't enough to keep him comfortable. Hopefully, it wouldn't take his teammates and himself all day to find the missing packages. Perhaps the group could even go grab some hot chocolate and warm cookies afterwards. Nah, that probably wouldn't happen. He wasn't too much of a social Butterfree anyway. 

After a few more minutes of traveling up the frosty path, Dylan soon found himself encountering a couple of other students. If he had to make an educated guess then he would assume that those two students would be his teammates for this mission. The guy was a fellow dormer and the ginger-haired girl little familiar, too. He just couldn't place his fingers on where he had last seen her. Perhaps the two of them shared a class or something together? "What's up? Everybody ready to get this mission started?" He asked, flashing Serena and Louis both a huge smile.

First things first, you need to start hiking! Of course the Delibird couldn't drop his packages closer to the base of Vanilla Peaks, oh no, that would be too easy. As you ascend and the path becomes more difficult, you start to notice letters sticking out of the snow. These have to be some of the mail for the Wave dorm! To get to them, however, you have to leave the safety of the path and it looks like you're not alone... Note: The Geodude must use Magnitude in one of the posts even if it's outside of the battle.

Fortunately, she didn't have to pace around too long before another student showed up.  Serena was relieved to know that she wasn't late or holding anyone up.  That was always the downside of showing up first.  She just smiled and gave an enthusiastic nod to his question.  Her other teammate showed up not long after the first.  It looked like they were ready to head out!

"Y-Yeah!" she smiled and nodded once more.

Serena waited for one of them to take the lead before following behind.  They were just taking a path up, but she still felt weird being in front.  Now she was glad she dressed warmly despite the weather on the rest of the island.  As they went higher it got colder.  She was a little worried about the one that decided to keep his jacket open, but she didn't really feel like it was her place to comment on it.  If he got too cold he would close it...right?

Eventually, they came across what looked like some mail, presumably for the people in the Wave Dorm.  How terrible!  Some of those things could be letters from home, or other important things.  They had to get them back quickly!  Unfortunately, there were some wild pokemon blocking the way.  Serena frowned and looked at each of them.  She was pretty sure she could take on any of them easily with the pokemon she brought, but which one should she choose?  Or should she just take care of them all herself?  While she thought, one of the wild pokemon slammed its body into the ground, causing it to shake violently under them.  Serena's eyes widened.  On a mountain like this that could be extremely dangerous.  It was clear which one she had to take care of, so she quickly released Cathy, her budew, to take care of it.

"Use giga drain, hurry!"

Her urgency surprised Cathy, who stood there and blinked for a moment before turning her attention to the wild pokemon causing the ground to shake.  Her bud glowed a bit before she started draining the energy out of the wild pokemon.  Before the attack appeared to finish completely, the shaking stopped and the wild pokemon flopped on the ground.  Serena breathed a sigh of relief, but she supposed it was too soon for that.  Hopefully nothing too bad would happen because of that.

Luu had recognized his fellow dormer, but honestly didn't know much else about him besides that, "Suppose so," he had responded casually, "What's the worst that can happen?" he had said this while he let out another warm breath, turning into mist as soon as it escaped his lips. It seemed that he spoke too soon, though, since once they spotted one of the missing packages as they moved higher up the slope, they also discovered they weren't alone.

Three different kinds of Pokemon had appeared from what seemed like the snow, and Luu had been caught off guard by the Geodude using Magnitude on the ground. He had managed to gain his footing and not fall on his back, thankfully, but he should probably deal with at least one of the other Pokemon. Their fellow student had already taken care of the nasty Rock type.

Hm, wait a minute, was that a Snorunt? He recognized them as they were from Sinnoh, and it would be neat to be able to catch it. Taking the most logical approach, he sent out his Vulpix, "Penny, use Flame Burst on that Snorunt!" he commanded, and the Fire Type obliged with a huge ball of flame unleashed at their opponent. The little Pokemon was too startled to react and got a direct hit, but surprisingly managed to survive the attack. Reacting, the Snorunt rushed in with a bite, but Penny managed to dodge with her Quick Attack before striking once more. That seemed to take it down, and with that Luu used a Poke Ball to catch it.

"Nice, nice, at least we have a new friend after this mission is over." he commented with a grin.

Dylan nodded his head at his teammates. Normally, he would have greeted them with a friendly handshake, but the dark-haired trainer believed that it was a little too cold for such a formal greeting. Especially, since his hands were already deep inside of his warm pockets. "Okay, let's get started. The sooner we can get this mission over with the better." He chuckled before taking the role of the leader. The trio traveled for a couple of minutes before encounter the first group of Pokemon. A Smoochum, Snorunt, and Geodude would be their first opponents. The small Pokemon definitely did not appear to be a threat to them. At least, that's what Dylan was thinking until he noticed the Geodude using his muscular arms to pound against the ground. "Hey, cut that out you dimwitted rock! Don't you know that you can start a snow slide or something with those huge arms of yours!" He hissed at the Geodude. 

Dylan glanced over at his teammates and nodded his head, as if he was signing for them to stand their ground. He bit down on his bottom lip as he planted his feet deeply into the snow, preventing himself from falling down onto the ground due to the Geodude's aggressive attack. It wasn't long before Dylan noticed that his teammates had jumped into body to take out some of the Pokemon. A small grin curved against his lip as he watched their battling style. So far, so good. He thought to himself. It was good to know that his teammates could carry their own weight in battle. However, it was his turn to prove himself in a battle against the last remaining Pokemon. He quickly pulled his hands from out of his pants and reached around his waist to withdrawal one of the many Poke Balls resting across his belt. "Bo, let's do this!" He called out, releasing his Froakie from his Poke Ball. 

The Froakie started deeply into his opponent's eyes as he awaited commands from his trainer. "Bo use Smack Down!" The Froakie nodded his head before leaping high into the air, a shining bronze glow engulfing his Pokemon as his water-typing started to change into a rock-typing due to his special ability. Bo let out a loud croak before throwing a decent-sized rock at the Smoochum at high speed. The super effective attack inflicted a huge amount of damage to the Smoochum, knocking her down onto her back with tiny swirls in her eyes. "Good job." He smiled at his Pokemon. Bo let out a cheerful croak before leaping onto his trainer's shoulders. "You guys aren't too bad either." He spoke, smiling at his teammates. "Let's get going." He added, leaning over to pick up a couple of the letters before leading the way again.

Before you make it any further you hear a loud rumbling echo from the mountains around you. It seems some of your concerns have come true! A wave of snow rushes down the slope, racing towards you and your pokemon. The Geodude's Magnitude has created an avalanche! You better think of something, quick!

"Yeah," Serena nodded at her teammate's action to move on.  "We need to hurry and get those packages back."

She jogged over to the first letter, but before she could pick it up there was a rumble on the mountain.  It looked like she couldn't take care of that wild pokemon fast enough.  Serena's eyes widened as she saw a large amount of snow come tumbling down from the top.  Then, her face suddenly became expressionless and serious.  This was dangerous, everyone had to go hide!

"Everyone, hurry and try to find a really big rock or an outcropping to hide behind!  I'll grab what I can and try to slow it down!"

Without a moment's hesitation, she recalled Cathy and released Natalia.  Natalia wasn't particularly happy about the cold at first, but one look at Serena's face and she knew this was serious.  Serena herself started running towards every piece of mail she could find and picked it up as quickly as she could.  The thought of failing the people she was supposed to help was scarier to her than being buried under a bunch of snow with a fire type pokemon that could probably get her out.  She signed up for this mission despite all signs saying she shouldn't, there's no way she could fail!

"Natalia, use sunny day, then fire as many flamethrowers up the mountain as you can!  And stay close to me!"

Admittedly Luu hadn't been paying attention to whatever Dylan may have signalled throughout the battle or something, if there was such a thing. He had no clue who elected him leader, but he supposed there are times when a leader's presence, however incompetent, can be better than none at all. He just went for the Pokemon that he found most familiar and wanted to catch - was that wrong? The other two didn't seem to mind as they had picked out their own opponents to defeat. Luu hadn't even noticed the Geodude as a potential threat to their mission.

He only nodded at Dylan's attempt to get them encouraged, though he honestly could've been more generous with his compliments. Not bad? Well whatever, he supposed there was no use getting hung up over such a thing. The trainer suddenly felt a rumble underneath his feet though - was the ground shaking, or was it just him? All at once Luu had realised the gravity of the situation and went on alert mode. He had heard what the girl said, but there was no way he was going to leave her alone in such a risky situation while he'd hide behind a rock. With adrenaline rushing through him, he ran towards any of the dropped mail that Serena had missed, and then shouted to his Vulpix, "Penny, help the Growlithe and use Flame Burst on that mountain!" the Vulpix let out a cry to signal that she understood before joining the other Fire type in their seemingly impossible task. With Sunny Day activated, fire power would be boosted, but they were fighting against nature here!

"We need to get back! There's no telling if our Pokemon can handle stopping the avalanche!" Luu shouted urgently as he started to move down the slope once he saw that there were no more packages to be picked up. Frankly, he had his hands full already, now the trouble was not to drop anything in the panic.

While kneeling down to put up a couple of more letters, Dylan soon started to feel the ground trembling yet again. Shortly after the trembling, he heard one of his teammates shout out, warning the best of the about the incoming avalanche. Dylan quickly stood back onto his feet then glared towards the avalanche, his deep blue eyes now widen by the dangerous event happening right before his eyes. "Holy Trubbish, I wasn't expecting anything like this happening in a simple mission like this one." He mumbled to himself as he started walking towards his teammates. There was no way that he was just going to ride away and hide, not until he knew that his teammates would be right behind him. The trio came together as a team and they would be leaving together as a team, too. 

Dylan watched as his teammates unleashed their fire-type Pokemon and used their fiery attacks to slow down the avalanche. It was definitely a clever idea and for a few seconds he almost regretted having a team of only water-types right now, because of the simple fact that not too many of them could do anything to help fight against the avalanche. He clenched his teeth together as he stood there feeling somewhat unless right now. There was no way that those fire-types would be able to keep their attacks up for too much long. Therefore, the team would have to end up evading as soon as possible. 

Dylan keen azure eyes scanned over their surrounding, searching for something that team could make good use out of it. It wasn't long before his deep blue orbs landed on the sight of a half fallen tree log. "Bo, use Smack Down to knock that log down!" Bo leaped from his trainer's arms and fired a few decent-sized stones towards the half fallen log, knocking it completely down. Dylan and Bo then used the stones to smooth out as much of the log as much as possible. Dylan then rushed over towards the log and quickly started dragging it towards the end of the slope. The trio may not be able to out-speed the avalanche by feet, but using a "sleigh" would be a little more promising. "C'mon guys, we should be able to overspeed this avalanche!" He called out hopping on the "sleigh." He would wait until his teammates boarded before using his legs to give them a start down the slope.

With smart thinking and help from your pokemon you do your best to escape from the avalanche. If you decide to continue the mission you will eventually stumble across larger packages, heftier than the letters you picked up. But it looks like the avalanche has angered some local wildlife.

Serena looked between her allies and smiled slightly.  She wasn't sure if she should be happy they were as dedicated as she was, or worried that they were as reckless as she was.  As long as Natalia and some of her other pokemon could help dig them out of the snow everyone should be fine.  Hopefully. Serena shook her head to get out of her thoughts.  She had to focus on getting those letters!  Once she picked up the last one she could see, she nodded at the student that got the tree, and hopped on.  Natalia jumped on with her shortly after and they went sledding down the hill.  It looked like all the fire was at least enough to slow down the avalanche enough for them to get the mail and get away.  Once it was obvious it wasn't going to catch up to them, Serena breathed a sigh of relief. 

The tree sled went on a weird course, a fair distance away from the path.  That was a little concerning, but if worst came to worst, Serena had a compass so she could probably find their way home.  Getting a little lost was more like a blessing in disguise here though because there were some larger packages a short distance away.  Serena quickly organized the letters she gathered into a neat pile and started putting them in her coat pockets, careful not to bend any of them.  With that, she went to gather the packages, however some wild pokemon were in the way.

Natalia strode up next to her, glaring at the wild pokemon that were clearly in Serena's way.  To Natalia, such things were completely unacceptable.  The growlithe looked up at her trainer, waiting for a command.  Serena just nodded.

"Um, okay Natalia, use Flamethrower on the...one on the left!"

Natalia let out a small sigh before breathing out a blast of fire at the piloswine.  Its fur was singed pretty badly and seemed to be having a hard time standing up.  At this point, it'd probably be faster to just catch the pokemon instead of defeating it given how weak it was, so Serena did just that.

[Dylan Reed]

A sigh of relief escaped from Dylan's mouth as he hopped of the tree sled. He was relieved to know that they had managed to beat the avalanche. Despite the weird course that the tree sled took them on everyone seemed to have came out with no injuries on their bodies. "Okay, it's time to focus on collecting the rest of the packages now." He spoke more to himself than to his teammates. The dark-haired trainer brush her fingers through his short hair as he searching for more of the missing packages. As he continued walking, he soon noticed that were a few Pokemon blocking their path. Unlike the other Pokemon this group of Wild Pokemon actually looked a lot stronger than the other ones. A small smirk formed against Dylan's lips as he eyed the Golduck. A perfect Pokemon to add to his collection. 

Dylan withdrew a Poke Ball from around his waist and tossed it into the air. Within seconds his Chinchou, Lana , appeared from in front of him. The Golduck let out a loud quack before rushing towards Lana with his webbed hand glowing a brilliant white color as he moved them into a crossed position. What that Golduck using Cross Chop? Dylan thought to himself. "Lana dodge then counter with Thunderbolt!" Dylan commanded with confidence. Lana used the snow around her to glide out of the Golduck's path. She then released a powerful blast of electricity towards the Golduck's body, giving him one nasty shock. 

The Golduck shook off the attack before swinging his water coated tail towards Lana. Lana took the Aqua Tail head on, taking only a small amount of damage from the attack. "Give it one more Thunderbolt!" Dylan commanded, giving out his last order. Lana released another Thunderbolt, zapping the Pokemon into submission. The Golduck fell down to his knees in defeat. Dylan didn't waste anytime tossing a Poke Ball at the weakened Pokemon.

Congratulations! You'll need to collect those big pacakges, but after carrying what you can and dealing with an avalanche of all things, it's time to head back to the Wave dorms. There you can claim your rewards and your desired pokemon will be spawned. Maybe you should treat yourself to some hot cocoa or something!
